Choose a stability shoe type if you have a medium arch with mild overpronation. And donít forget to check your current running shoe: If you find wear and tear on the inside of the shoe and under the big toe area, you likely have mild overpronation. Itís the most common gait mechanic.
Consider a neutral shoe if you have high arches or medium arches with neutral pronation. Runners with high arches often underpronate, creating extreme wear on the outside of running shoes. Those with neutral pronation have wear evenly distributed on the front of the shoe and ball of the foot. Neutral shoes encourage a more natural inward foot motion.
Wearing the proper shoe helps prevent running injuries. Although each runner is different, you should replace your running shoes after about 250 to 500 miles of use.
