Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Bow! This bow is so sturdy, I decided to pick up archery, but I didn't want to dive right into an expensive bow without first really deciding if I liked it. I love everything about this bow!! The only thing that I would improve is the shipping packaging because it got a scrape on the bottom because it was not covered on the edges, I understand it was because of the wongy shape. But aside from that it is a great bow.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent starter bow for anyone. Cheap, durable, light, ambidextrous, comes with two practice arrows and tips. Great bow for a gift to someone who wants to try and learn archery. I got it for my girlfriend and she loves it. Shooting my compound is fun but every once in a while I like to mix it up and shoot hers.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not a recurve bow nor an adult's bow Closer to a longbow. Still a great product for the price. Nice to start out with. Good for training very tall and strong children.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Surprisingly good bow for the money I was a very active archer as a child and on through my later teen years, but I got away from it after that. It's been on my mind for a couple years to get back into it. I happened across this bow set while shopping and was intrigued, and at 35 bucks it was practically disposable if it didn't perform. Here are my thoughts...Everything in the set is junk. Toss it all. The arrows, the finger tab and arm guard, even the packaging which is supposed to double as a storage case. Throw that all out. Buy some good target arrows and take the time to learn how to sight in the bow. It comes with a single pin sight which I set for 20 yards, and it really works. Now, on to the main attraction, the bow itself.I don't know why they call it a recurve bow, it's clearly not. It's a longbow, specifically an American longbow, AKA flatbow. The string isn't great, but come on. It can be replaced. For those who don't know, the American longbow or flatbow is a great design. It's more efficient than a recurve, transferring much more of the force from the limbs to the arrow. The result is a bow that is pretty forgiving to the shooter. It had been several years since I shot, so I spent a week or two on drawing exercises and getting my form back up to snuff. When it was time, I got out to the back yard and all I can day is I was pleasantly shocked. Before even attaching the sight, I found I was shooting with way, way more accuracy than I would have ever expected from this bow. I'm a really good archer, but not a great one and certainly not a master. This bow performs exceptionally well in the arena of instinctive shooting at 30 yards and under. Instinctive shooting means quickly knocking the arrow, drawing, and firing without time to zen out on your shot and really focus on aim. It also performs very well at 20 to 30 yards with the sight, if you take the time to learn how to set it and use it. After sighting it in for 20 yards, it was as simple as lining up, putting the dot on the target and releasing. Dead on every time. I'm actually really impressed so far, and this bow is making my return to archery as enjoyable as I hoped it would be. I haven't taken it out and tried it at more than 30 yards yet, so I can't say anything about how it performs at longer range. It's not perfect; it stacks pretty bad at full draw, but I also have a big draw length and this is, after all, a youth bow. The 25 pound draw weight is enough to give a youth archer a taste of how it feels to shoot a bow with some muscle. I think a true, stalking, old fashioned bowhunter who gets inside 30 yards of his prey would find this bow more than adequate.I'll be buying a proper adult bow soon enough-I may even get crazy and buy a japanese yumi bow- but this one was a great starting point and I'd recommend it to any beginner or even intermediate archer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Beginner Bow Nothing over the top, very good for getting a basic feel of what archery is. If you're looking to get started, or have been out of the game for awhile, this gives you something to work with and warm up. Definitely recommend for anyone who is interested in trying the sport without going over-the-top in cost and gear. (It might be small for me considering the type of bow, but I can still get a good full pull out of it and it just adds force... points for versatility.) I paid for fast shipping and that's what I got, so no complaints on arrival time.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Buy Elsewhere It took 10 days before Dick's shipped the bow - the time between order and gettimg a tracking number for UPS. It was listed in stock, both before I bought it and in the order status. This is the age of internet shopping; nowhere else have I had waits even close to this.I am an adult and this bow works well as a learning bow. It is a recurve longbow, not simply recurve, which is all the better for people getting into archery for nerdy reasons.
