Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Pack But Not Recommended For Women I am giving this pack a 5 star even though I am most likely returning it. I bought this pack for myself and the Field and Stream 48L for my son (See my separate review for that pack). This pack is really well made with heavy duty straps and clips. I love that you can access the main compartment from the top and bottom of the pack (with a drawstring divider in the middle to keep things organized. Bottom compartment is fairly large to hold a thick sleeping bag. The one feature it does not have is a pouch on the waist belt. The shoulder straps are adjustable in many ways from the top and bottom which is a plus, but it is definitely not meant for a woman. I really like this pack and wanted it to work for me, but no matter how I tried adjusting it, the shoulder straps left a large gap above my shoulders and the horizontal chest strap does not go high enough past my ...ahem..."Womanhood". Comfort in a hiking pack is #1 and looks like this is not the pack for me. If you can afford to lose a little real estate, the 45L's shoulder straps sit much better, the horizontal chest strap adjusts higher, and the pack is overall very comfortable. If you are a guy looking for a sturdy pack, this is a great pack at a great price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVED it I backpacked for a month with this thing in Europe and loved it. I have a pretty bad back and I rarely had any pain over there. I climbed the Alps with it and it had great support. Would definitely recommend this to any level of hiker/explorer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You Can Pay More and Get Less Excellent backpack. You would have to pay three times more (I have) for a backpack this good. (Except the Osprey 70, only twice as much if you can find one). This is my go-to hiking backpack. First hike was great. Supports my lower back EXTREMELY well and holds (comfortably) as much as you can stuff in it. Shoulder straps well padded and the waist belt is wide and solid. No problems, no complaints. I am a happy camper.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from best backpack I purchased this backpack for my 18 year old son for a four day hiking trip in the sierra nevada mountains and he said it worked out great for him. he has used other hiking backpacks and said that he liked this one much better because it was longer and thinner and because of that, made the pack feel lighter because of how the weight was distributed. he also mentioned the thick padding on the straps and waistband and said it was really comfortable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Beginner Pack I purchased this pack on sale at about half off a month or so ago. Since then I've done two 15-mile overnight trips. The pack has held up so far, with only one real complaint: the buckle on the hip belt pops open unexpectedly. It seems to be when I bend over to go under a tree or squat down. Either of those must cause my belly to pop it. Either way, if it's snug enough to keep the weight on my hips where it belongs, it tends to pop open, even just walking on the trail. Other than the buckle issue, I appreciate the rain cover that is included. I've packed a total of 32 lbs on the first trip (including water) and probably closer to 40 the second trip because I had one of the kids' equipment too. The second trip was more comfortable, since I had finally adjusted everything just right. I would like to see some hip belt pockets for easy access while walking. The water bottle pockets are hard to reach to put the bottle away, but they've held the bottles securely. The pack seems sturdy and well made. I may or may not upgrade later.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So Far So Good I packed two pillows, one blanket, 3 days worth of clothes, two pairs of shoes, one pair of sandals, a towel, all my bathroom stuff, a survival knife, two sweat shirts, workout clothes, 6 rolls of 550 cord, cell phone, keys, and a wallet. I wanted to break it right away so I could take it back because it was an inferior product because there is no way to get a good 65L backpack for under $100. Sooo.. after using my foot as a power plunger to force 100L worth of items into a 65L cavity, tugging on the zippers with all my might.. jumping up and down to recompress things.. I managed to get it sealed up for the camping weekend. I started the trip off by throwing it on the ground and kicking it to where the tent was going to be placed... after that I inspected everything once my cot was setup and I as unpacking. Much to my surprise, not a single rip tear or fray. I normally don't write reviews because they are a waste of my time for others benefit. However in this case, I felt this product deserved a pat on the back.. Good Job Field and Stream... Aka Dick's Sporting Goods.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for backpacking Good size, there are a good amount of pockets and they're not too exposed. My favorite is that there's a separation to where you put the tent, in the half bottom. As I use it for traveling, I keep my clothes in the top part, and shoes in the bottom part, and I can reach them regardless. It's comfortable to wear and there aren't many exposed pockets so I feel comfortable dispatching it while traveling.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 65 L Field and Stream pack This back pack was purchased for my son who is in scouting. He has not used it yet, but it was recommended by a scout leader also reviewing backpacks for a rugged 2016 summer campout. The troop will be doing a lot of hiking, and heavy backpacks can make you very tired. There is an area at the top for a sleeping bag too. It is as light as a feather; I thought the box was empty when it arrived. I would highly recommend this product if you need for long camping trips.
