Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent addition!! I was looking at these dumbells for a few weeks. I then had them purchased as a gift. I've been lifting weights for roughly 20 years now. Anyone who is a gym rat understands that with a nice adjustable bench you can do just about any movement with dumbells. They replace 9 sets of dumbells and feel just as good as standard hexadecimal head dumbells. I use them every day in my routine. My only knock would be this set is not expandable, the sport exp is. I thought I could purchase the add on kit to go from 50 to 70 then 70 to 90 pounds. This is an older set that doesn't allow expansion so I have to buy the heavier set now. Just for the simple reason 50 pounds isn't enough weight for me on most exercises. I do love the set up though just not enough weight.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sport 50's are great Picked these for several reasons. When doing overhead tricep extensions, you can flip the unit over (upside down) and grab the two bars that were just on the bottom, one in each hand, and it feels very natural and controlled. With the Bowflex units I bought my son years ago, tricep extensions are more awkward. And although our Bowflex units haven't broken yet, when I went to the Dick's store, both of the Bowflex display units were broken so you couldn't adjust the weight, which didn't give me confidence. These Sport 50's were also attractive, without the gaudy colors that other Powerblock units have. And my son immediately noticed how compact they are, which helps during a lot of different exercises.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Alternative I bought these a few weeks ago. Like other reviewers, I liked the relatively compact size, the ease of changing weight, and the balanced feel. I have a small hand, so the grips are a little bit oversize for me, but not much of a problem. The flat ends make it easy to do work outs without worrying about hitting body parts in going through your range of motion (particularly on bicep curls). You can't just throw these things around, but I think they're going to last for awhile.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from good buy! remember you cant slam adjustable weights! things will break. also for those that say its too hard and takes longer to change weight with these than to workout, you need to be doin more than one rep! ive done drop sets with these on the floor and was still able to hit failure. i picked these over the bowflex and the other one dicks had because of the smaller profiles of the weight stacks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best adjustable DB product I had the same exact experience as another reviewer. I looked at Bowflex and Core models of adjustable DB in the store and both were irreparably broken. Conversely, the Powerblock Sport had no issues. These are perfectly balanced and very reliable for performance and safety. I have only had them for a day, but I bet I'll still be using these 5 years from now. Very happy with this great fitness product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from These are the adjustable dumbbells to have! When I went into Dicks sporting goods I never intended to buy adjustable dumbbells, I was just looking at the regular dumbbells and benches etc. Well I noticed a few different types of adjustable Dumbbells so I checked them out.The first pair was the old style powerblocks with the huge cage and cylinders for extra weight, they were to bulky and uncomfortable. The next pair was already broken, it was the Stairmaster brand, sometimes labeled as "Core"I tried to fix the plates but couldn't figure it out, so those were bad signs so I moved on.I noticed these powerblock 50 sports. I picked them up and they felt balanced and had a nice grip.I also noticed that the ends were flat. I really liked this because, like another reviewer said, I like to rest the dumbbells on my legs before lifting on many exercises.Another thing I noticed is that they are not very big compared to other adjustable Dumbbells, and they aren't very wide, which makes them great for biceps curls, because they won't hit your legs during the exercise like some wider dumbbells will. It's very easy to change the weight on this. It has a rubberized grip, which is a pleasant change from the rough steel dumbbells I am used to using.Bottom line, if you are interested in buying a set of dumbbells or a different adjustable dumbbell, DONT. Buy these. And I am a very picky person, and these are very nice.I got them on sale for $320 plus tax,so if you see them on sale grab a pair.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product, but... I really like the idea of this product, but be aware. According to PowerBlock customer support, this set does not support an expansion set. So if you want to go any heavier than 50 per hand, you might want to go with their other sets. This works great for me now, but I worry I will out pace it eventually, and it won't be heavy enough.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Happy After using the PowerBlock Sport 50 for two weeks now, I can honestly say that I am very happy with my purchase. This PowerBlock differentiates itself from its more notable PowerBlock peers by increased weight by 5 lb. increments using the pin. The larger PowerBlocks have two cylinders within the block (each able to contain a 2.5 lb. weighted cylinder). This throws off the balance slightly, and is a slight inconvenience compared to just using the all-in-one pin. I know – I said “slight inconveneice.” But I wanted the closest thing I could get to the ease of just picking up the next set of dumbbells… then put them down and pick up the next set. This was also one of the safest and most solid set of adjustable dumbbells I could find.Reasons why I chose this over the Bowflex 552s:Flat & smooth sides on the ends – when I am sitting down on my bench, I prefer to rest dumbbells on my legs before and after a set, and other adjustable dumbbells (Bowflex) do not accommodate this. Try doing bicep curls with the Bowflex before you purchase them – they are so incredible wide I found myself catching the sides of my legs every rep. These PowerBlocks are much more compact – so no issues here. Both Bowflex demo models at Dicks were broken when I went in to the store. After doing some reading, it turns out they have a reputation for breaking and occasionally dropping a weighted disk. If you’re going to move around a heavy weight over your face, I would want to be as confident as possible that it’s not going to break or come down on me.Pros:Compact, easy to use, very fast to change weight settings, well-balanced, efficient in terms of cost and space. Cons:You have to get over the psychological barrier of sticking your hands inside of the metal “cage.” When doing an overhead tricep extension, it’s a bit uncomfortable – both of my hands manage to fit inside one block, but in this position, part of the block tends to rest on my wrist, making things a little uncomfortable.
