Rated 5 out of 5 by 2 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Worth the little bit extra. Size: Runs almost a half-size small... it may or may not work depending on your foot. I tried a pair of 9's and they were just a slight bit too snug. I switched to a 9.5 and they're just a slight bit big. The lacing, however, gives you a lot of control in making them fit your foot right. Quality: Highest quality materials. Very durable. Eco-friendly. Side by side with other high-quality hiking footwear I've purchased (including some that have cost more), I'd say that these are of the highest quality I've found. That's part of what you're paying extra for. Good grip in the Vibram sole (but I don't do any serious climbing, I just use them for going over boulders and up cliffs. Nothing vertical). Support / Stiffness: Solid support but not so stiff that they need a month of breaking-in. I felt these were ready to go after less than a week of street wear. My main plan is to use them for urban hiking in Europe, and I think they're perfect for that. Other: Waterproof (not completely, of course, but they kept my feet mainly dry during a hurricane-like downpour of pelting sheets of rain - and while wearing shorts!). Also, they do breath well, and your foot (at least mine) does not overheat. But they do keep your foot warm, which is equally as important (and even more so at times). Overall: I considered shoes that ranged from $88 to these at $149. The Gore-tex waterproofing makes about a $20 - $25 difference in cost but I feel it was worth it (even just based on my one "hurricane" encounter). If that $25 can keep my feet dry for two years or so of use that's just $1 a month to avoid wet feet. If that's not a concern for you, the standard Drifter A/C without GTX should work fine.
