Fitness Gear 300 lb Olympic Weight Set 4.3 5 111 111
Value Purchase After comparing different weight sets all the way from rubber coated to plain iron doughnuts I settled on this set. First and foremost these weights do what they are intended to do. The weights are nearly 100% accurate. Differences are negligable. From a cosmetic standpoint, they are coated over the weight itself. Some of the coating was rubbed off one of the weights, however after some use I did not see any increased wear. They are inexpensively made, but not to the point of disappointment. The bar itself was accurate 7' length. It has enough roughness to facilitate a decent grip. I would recommend this bar if you are a professional weightlifter or looking into long term huge lifting capability. The clamps are borderline useless and I recommend ordering a decent set of heavy duty plastic olympic size clamps. It will make your weight changes much more tolerable. If you have a normal budget in mind for a home gym these provide an excellent value so you can allocate money into a better bench and rack. This is a great starter set for most people. May 28, 2013
good value This set is the least expensive way to start your home gym. It might not be the highest quality, but it does the job just fine for anyone who isn't a competitive weight lifter. May 28, 2013
Great if you want a cheap set to get you started Loved the way these weights were cut out with nice big handles. The casting is so-so and there are knurls and piles of excess slag all over the plates. The bar only weighs 35lbs so the package is not 300lbs. I am amazed that they get away with this. With that being said, For the $189 it was a good purchase for getting started. Eventually I will go with a higher quality set where the weights and the bar are accurate. May 21, 2013
IF GOD WANTED US TO BE WEAK, HE WOULDN'T HAVE GIVEN US IRON. I had been looking for a weight set for a while had looked online and everything. I had started to set $800 aside because I was set on buying a set of York weights w/ an Olympic bar. I didn't know they had a 300lbs set with an Olympic bar and didn't expect it to be so cheap. Needless to say I went with the cheaper weight set and was able to buy a curl bar and 2 adjustable Olympic dumbbells and some supplements. I don't know what the bad reviews are about. I have had no trouble with the spring collars.... and as far as paint chipping....who cares? I love my weight set and plan on buying some more separate weights soon. May 20, 2013
Good value The price is right, but it isn't exactly optimal. The bearings needs grease added, and the 45 pound plates are a little smaller in diameter than they should be. Besides these pretty minor details the set is a good value and for the price just can't be beat. May 14, 2013
The Best Value in an Olympic Set! For the price of this Olympic set , you won't find a better value. I didn't weigh every plate , but I did weigh the bar , and it was within a few ounces of 45 pounds. The plates have hand hold cut-outs , and have a nice finish. The bar is chrome plated and has good knurling in the grip sections. My only complaint are the ridges on the ends where you load the plates. Yes , they probably put them there to help keep the plates from sliding , but they are noisy and make it slightly harder to load/unload plates. If you put a good collar on a smooth bar , you shouldn't have any problems. Other than that , it's a great package. I bought the set to use with the Marcy Pro Compact Trainer; I needed the weights, but not the bar. I sold the bar on Craigslist. May 14, 2013

I couldn't pass this up! The customer service was great and they helped me with every step of the purchase. I was searching for this weight set online over a few different websites and was able to purchase it at Dick's for about $80 less than anywhere else had it on sale. Great purchase, great service equals happy customer! May 7, 2013
