Fitness Gear 300 lb Olympic Weight Set 4.3 5 288 288
Poor precision weights, terrible bar, returned set Pros:(trying to think of a few) . Ok spring clips Knurling has nice feel . Cons: . Weighing the various plates, they were wildly inconsistent (+/- 4 lbs). If I were to put 45's and 35's on the bar with the set I got without checking beforehand the bar could be lopsided by up to 10 1/2 lbs.(-4+3 -3 +1/2) On one of my 45's there was a noticeable diameter difference. Hole in plates not a tight fit on bar. Paint job is very poor--silver paint globbed all over with sloppy lettering and weight labels and quite a few globs where the painter dripped nowhere near the lettering. . The bar is cheap and low quality. The sleeves are ribbed and awkwardly designed. This is a bolted sleeve design and after contacting customer service I found out that it is only a 63k PSI bar.(It took 4 Customer service people before I got someone who knew what tensile strength or PSI was and escalation to the corporate level to get an answer.) Poor spinning sleeves with lots of wobble and noise. . I ended up returning this set and through cyber monday sales getting an Again Faster bar ($155), two pairs of Muscledriver bumper plates($154) and a small set of iron plates($60). You get what you pay for. That said, you can score better than this set at goodwill or play it again after peoples new years resolutions break down--sometimes they have vintage York stuff. :) December 15, 2014
its a weight set, works great good price, works really well with the half rack I bought from Dicks. December 4, 2014
Knurled sleeves The set is great for the money. Bearings in the sleeves are smooth and free. The only thing I don't like is the deep sharp ridges machined into the sleeves, which makes it difficult to slide weights off and rips the paint while doing it. I don't know what their reason was for doing this. December 1, 2014
great buy Bought as a gift for my husband, and teenage boys & they love it. December 1, 2014
Great Purchase! Bought this set for $199, with free shipping. Enough weight to get started for a great price, but would only buy on-line, with free shipping... December 1, 2014
It's worth the money Ordered on line and they arrived in 3 shipments without any damage. November 30, 2014
Great Product Not sure how to rate this. Seems to be very solid. No issues so far. November 26, 2014
Great starter set For the money, this is a great set. $200 to get 300 lbs of weight and a half way decent bar is just what I needed to get into strength training. I'm sure if I had to pay $200-300 for the bar and another $200-300 for weights I wouldn't have jumped right in. The knurl on the bar is good, not too smooth and not too rough. I haven't noticed any overt bar bending over 300lbs yet. The collars are nice and tight. The weight plates aren't works of art, and don't fit the bar that well (a little loose, not too tight) but the built in handles are nice when loading a squat rack at shoulder level. The plates are not regulation diameter. For deadlifts, I just bought 2 bumper plates so the lift is regulation. That way, the bumpers are touching the ground and not the iron plates, which helps protect the surface underneath. All in all a great value and a decent product that withstands some abuse. Good product. Worth buying. The plates are very good, and easy to handle. The bar is fair. The spring collars are worthless. So I threw them away and bought a pair of Raw-Built collars...and they work great. November 19, 2014
High quality set at a great price. I've been scouting a new olympic weight set for the past few weeks. They typically run around 450 dollars for a decent 300LB set. Even at the higher price range, the reviews were hit and miss. Then I looked at Dicks. I didn't go to them first because I never took them for a weight lifting retailer, but more golf and baseball. I was pleasantly surprised when I found this set on their website at this price point. Looked at online inventory at my local store at went there at lunchtime to buy it. They loaded my car up for me and off I went. Went home and set it up and went back to work. All within an hour. I am a Dicks Sporting Goods fan now. Great set at a great price. November 17, 2014
