Fitness Gear 300 lb Olympic Weight Set 4.3 5 281 281
Great starter set For the money, this is a great set. $200 to get 300 lbs of weight and a half way decent bar is just what I needed to get into strength training. I'm sure if I had to pay $200-300 for the bar and another $200-300 for weights I wouldn't have jumped right in. The knurl on the bar is good, not too smooth and not too rough. I haven't noticed any overt bar bending over 300lbs yet. The collars are nice and tight. The weight plates aren't works of art, and don't fit the bar that well (a little loose, not too tight) but the built in handles are nice when loading a squat rack at shoulder level. The plates are not regulation diameter. For deadlifts, I just bought 2 bumper plates so the lift is regulation. That way, the bumpers are touching the ground and not the iron plates, which helps protect the surface underneath. All in all a great value and a decent product that withstands some abuse. Good product. Worth buying. The plates are very good, and easy to handle. The bar is fair. The spring collars are worthless. So I threw them away and bought a pair of Raw-Built collars...and they work great. November 19, 2014
High quality set at a great price. I've been scouting a new olympic weight set for the past few weeks. They typically run around 450 dollars for a decent 300LB set. Even at the higher price range, the reviews were hit and miss. Then I looked at Dicks. I didn't go to them first because I never took them for a weight lifting retailer, but more golf and baseball. I was pleasantly surprised when I found this set on their website at this price point. Looked at online inventory at my local store at went there at lunchtime to buy it. They loaded my car up for me and off I went. Went home and set it up and went back to work. All within an hour. I am a Dicks Sporting Goods fan now. Great set at a great price. November 17, 2014
Great value for home gym Compare this to any other weight set on here and you can quickly see the price is much lower. So far (only a few weeks) this seems to be really high quality for the price. The weights are not rubber coated, but I knew this going into it. I purchased a couple heavy duty rubber mats to put under my bench to protect the slab in case I drop a weight. The bar has a very new feel and the claps are very tight. Ordered online, picked up following day, they had it to front and helped me put it in back of the truck in just a few minutes, quick and friendly. November 12, 2014
nice great product. my son loves it. Everyone its a good price for 300lbs of weights October 26, 2014
Quality I have purchased 3 of these sets ( cheaper than buying plates individually ) quality seems to be hit or miss. The first was exceptional! No issues adding or removing weights from the bar, powder coat was excellent. The second was horrible. 1/2 the plates didn't fit on the bar. Unfortunately it was faster to get out the die grinder and grind material away than to return them to the store. Now the third set is back to what I expected. Great quality. Now I know it's a bunch of steel plates, you shouldn't expect much, but they should at least fit the bar right? Bottom line. Would buy again (obviously) October 26, 2014
Great set for the price I feel like this is a great product for the price. For me, the only thing keeping it from five stars is fact the weights seem to be painted/coated and that makes them chip. Not a huge deal. October 20, 2014
Great product I bought this online a few weeks ago and its great. Best value for the money. The bar only supports the weight that it comes with so u cant add any more, but it serves its purpose. October 13, 2014
serves the purpose Either the weights or the bar are sized a little off leaving the weights to be a little floppy on the bar. A couple of the weights had little bus on them that I had to file off. But all said and done they are good for the price! $197 with 10% off. October 11, 2014
Barbell fell apart in less than 2 years My husband bought this set as a gift for me just under 2 years ago. As you can tell, I am a woman and I rarely load the bar with more than 200lbs. For some reason recently, the bar came apart. I tried to screw it back together but, the pieces are stripped and will not screw back together. This is a bar that I was using in my home gym, not at a buisness. I have not even used it on a daily basis over the last 2 years. Quite disappointing that I already need to purchase another 45# bar. As far as the weights go, I have had no issues and that is why I rated it as fair. October 2, 2014
