Heart shield
This shirt does not protect the persons heart correctly, its more centered and low. The one I bought did not fit well either.

Hard to find the right size.
There is not a good chart to tell what size you need. I have a seven year old how wears medium in everything else. Trying them on, she needs a xxs which converts to a 3-4toddler. The store did not even carry Xxs so we had to buy an xs and sew it to cover her heart. What a pain!

definitely follow the size chart [ex, 26" chest is a Youth XSM]. if you're unsure, it's tempting to go with the larger size - and initially that may seem like the better fit. We bought 2 different sizes [xsm & sm] and tried each on, because my son was in-between [returning the one that doesn't fit]. the smaller size, although it looks uncomfortably tight - is the correct fit. my 8 yr old said it felt fine, and the heart protector pad didn't sink down as far as it did with the larger size. also, with the tighter more form fitting size, the neck looked much better on him - where the larger size neck looked sloppy & loose [think Michael Jordan "bacon neck" t-shirt commercial]. it looks like a good quality product. we went with black as it will look nice under his team jersey. I hope the pad is correctly positioned to fully cover the heart - it just seemed a little low, but I am trusting the manufacturer knows what they're doing. simply due to your child's growth, and the way this product needs to fit, you should buy this with the mindset that you're only going to get 1 season of use out of it.

For Younger Players Only
I bought it for my 12 year old and realized this product is for younger children. My mistake.

I would buy this product again if needed
At one of my grandaughters' softball games the pitcher was hit by a line drive to the chest and my grandaughter being the next pitcher realized why we purchased the product for all our grandkids that play ball.

Returning due to sizing
The shirt appears exactly as shown. I purchased the item as a gift and unfortunately I was way off on the sizing of this product. I sized like another compression item and the sizing/compression of this shirt is smaller than that. For a larger youth the Youth L/XL does not work.
