Rated 3.5 out of 5 by 39 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by lots of fun- good price I have had my optishot for about a month now and I've used it almost every day. The feedback given is very helpful in correcting issues in your swing. The courses are very fun to play as well. It took some time to fine tune my club set based on how far I typically hit my clubs in real life compared to the virtual response but simply changing the distance percent up or down makes it easy to do so. I built my own stand to raise my stance up level with the system which I would highly recommend since it looks and feels very awkward to hit the ball off the sensor with out anything around it. I also built a net so I can play in my living room and not damage anything. I haven't had any issues with hitting the infrared sensors with my clubs when I hit a fat shot but the mat does make a loud bang and can get moved which takes some time to trust that the system can handle it. The sensors are recessed below the plastic of the mat so you would have to come in at a very sharp angle to hit the sensors themselves. One issue I have had so far is I destroyed the original tee holder. The holder is rubber and sits slightly below the turf when it is pressed in so the balls tend to sink into the hole which makes hitting the ball clean very difficult. I was placing the ball slightly in front of the tee holder but it's still annoying as the ball can roll back into the hole in my backswing. I purchased a turf tee holding plug on ebay that will replace my broken tee holder. the turf will be able to hold a tee and also will be flush with the mat surface so you can hit my irons off of it and the ball won't roll around. Overall assessment: Pros: - great way to practice in the winter or if you don't want to pay to go to a course - gives instant feedback on swing path, face angle, club head speed, contact (heal vs. toe not fat vs. thin) within a month I went from shooting low 90's on the game, which is close to what I shoot in real life, to low 80's. - thousands of dollars less than most simulators Cons: - Tee holder not very durable (replacements are $7 or $9 for 2 turf plugs on ebay so if you have to replace it once every 10 rounds that's not so bad) - putting function is very inaccurate but you can set gimmies for a set distance or auto putt for a set distance (I set it to autoputt for 100 feet so if I hit the green it will auto putt) typically it will give you a 1 putt within 6 feet a 2 putt within 30 feet and a 3 putt outside of that. It randomly does it but it seems to come out to about that. - May wake the neighbors with the loud noise of hitting a fat shot. January 31, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Works as advertised. I am happy with the product. My only worry is durability. The matting on top is velcro'd down to the base and some type of adhesive is used. After a few days of use the whole thing shifted forward and was interfering with the front optical sensors. I had to peel it off and reseat it. Its not very durable , both side next to the tee area have already torn. i know you can buy replacement mats , but I was hoping it would last a bit longer. Also the base is plastic, it would of been nice if it was covered in a heavy duty rubber product. I have not seen any problems with the base plastic, but I am worried everytime we use it. if you hit a iron fat , it could crack the plastic. Also I placed the whole unit on a rubber mat and a piece of old carpet. I cut a hole in both so this would sit level. It works much better this way, and helps prevent accidental damage. Over all I am happy with the product it is a great practice tool..especially the driving range. It works ! It knows if the face of your club is open or closed..swing speed..swing path. Really nice ! Rated 1 out of 5 by Not worth the money I had wanted this device for several years and decided to pull the trigger. I have Ping I25 irons and G30 driver and woods. They are non-reflective and do not work with the Optishot. You have to apply reflective tape to the clubs to make it work better but this still does not guarantee that it will. I am an above average golfer with higher swing speeds and the device will not read the proper speed or trajectory. I was tired of removing sticky residue from my clubs for a device that doesn't work at the level it should. You have to make sure the lighting is correct among several other things. DO NOT BUY IT!! You will be disappointed. Buy a ball tracker simulator instead. They work a lot better and are far more accurate. October 28, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Worth the money! This is agreat product on it's own. You can make it evan better if you go to [@]and buy apiece of outdoor grass carpet and two pieces of the heavy duty padding as big as you feel will work for you.I bought a piece 6ft by 10ft. Cut a hole in the carpet and padding the size of the optishot and stick it in the hole. Now the optishot is level with ground and much easier to hit the ball without hittng the optishot. This product helped me with my swing with instant results on my swing. I can play 18 every night and improve my game. The lighting is critical, must have overhead florescant no regular light bulbs. Must also have very good computer, check the website for computer requirements. April 25, 2012
Rated 2 out of 5 by Meh I've had it 2 days and it's just okay because you can hit balls. The feedback is sporadic.Might as well just buy a net and a mat because you cannot tell where it is going. May be a lighting issue or needs tape is what I read and I am sure they will tell me. I play a lot of golf and I am a low teens HCP and I hit a tight draw off the box darn near every time. Well I have hit probably around 250 drives with this and have not hit a single draw. Not one. It reads the club face as wide open or slammed shot pretty much every time. The irons are a little better but again very sporadic and if I cannot 100% trust the accuracy of the device then I cannot use the device as it will screw up my real swing. I am going to fool around with it a couple more days and try some things and if it changes I will write another review but if not I will be returning it. July 17, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Fun and works exactly as advertised I think every golfer who lives in the north (where we have long snowy winters) and who has a spot with high enough ceilings to at least swing your irons should run out and buy on of these things! It's fun playing the simulated courses and the shot feedback is awesome. In my opinion the shot feedback alone is worth the price of admission. If your ceilings only allow iron play you can still play every course and hole, you simply set yourself to '3 PAR" and on every hole you'll tee off as if the hole were a par 3. It WILL work with regular lights just fine if you have them on dimmers and I've loaded the software on my wife's laptop running Windows Vista and my new PC (bought just to run Optishot) with Windows 8. My only issues with the unit is it doesn't work on Apple computers (that's why i bought a PC for it) and you really NEED a platform to level yourself up to it. I stacked some carpet remnants for now but they keep moving. My next purchase will be a custom made Optishot matt which is the correct size and has a block cut out for the unit. All in all ... it may not be quite as good as a $20,000. simulator but for only $399 it's some of the smartest money you'll spend if your a snowed in golfer. Highly recommended. January 6, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by WORKS WELL I HAVE USED THE OPTISHOT FOR OVER A YEAR. IT IS NOT REAL GO;F BUT IS THE NEXT BEST THING. THE DISTANCES ARE OFF A LITTLE ON THE LONG SIDE BUT I JUST SET MY CLUBS UP TO SHOW 10 YARDS SHORTER AND NOW IT SEEMS TO BE VERY CLOSE TO MY DISTANCES. I USE IT MOSTLY FOR CORRECTING MY SWING PATH, FACE ANGLE, CLUB SPEED AND WHERE THE BALL HITS THE FACE OF THE CLUB. I HAVE DROPPED 8 STROKES IN THE LAST YEAR BY MOSTLY CORRECTING MY OUTSIDE IN SWING AND CLOSED FACE. SEVERAL OF MY FRIEND PLAY WITH ME ON A REGULAR BASIS. WE QUICKLY NOTICED THAT WE HIT THE BALL ON EXACTLY THE SAME PATH ON THE COURSE AS WE DID ON THE OPTISHOT. THIS GAVE US MORE CONFIDENCE TO TRUST THE MACHINE. December 7, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Golfing in winter Set up in my garage with projector and large screen, it's a lot like playing real golf, does take some time tweaking settings with club setup and speed adjustments but mathces your actual shot closely if you take the time to do so. The only thing I don't like is it can't tell when you top the ball or even miss. Overall happy with opti shot I get to play golf in winter at home and I think it will help my game. December 11, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good Buy Bought optishot for fun. Some of my buddies and I get together and play. Its on the mark. Shot tracking is very good. I do agree with past reviews the club head speed doesnt always seem right. But then again it may be and we dont want to admit it. LOL Over all its a good product and can be a blast with buddies. Its great in winter when you cant actually get out and play. December 30, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by Optioshot Junk This optishot is totally inaccurate, telling me i have a 150mph swing speed and I am hitting it 370yards and half the time not even reading my drives. This is nothing near a launch monitor and a total waste of money. i am very disappointed with this simulator it shouldnt even be call a simulator. The balls they give you with it brake after a few hits, garbage! DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!! January 27, 2014
