Not a bad Set for Beginners or as a gift I bought this set because of the Value price.. its not a bad pole at all.. you get the rod reel and a small tackle kit. i had a few issues with the reel at first with getting my line reeled in after casting..but after I respooled it with better line have not had any trouble.. if you have young children do not waste your money on the childs poles.. get them one of these its pretty much the same thing as a childs pole but better made. and its only 10 dollars more. I Overall Recomend Shakespeare products to people.. and the customer service is really good with Shakespeare April 13, 2013

"Ugly" Stik = Ugly Experience This product go one star because there was no option for zero stars!Called a good friend who's an avid fisherman and asked his opinion on what fishing rod/reel I should get my 7 & 9 year old sons. He said don't worry about getting anything too fancy most $25-$40 sets will do but stay away from anything made by Shakespeare and most specifically the Ugly Stik. As usual I did the research in advance but waited until the last minute to make the purchase. I went to [...] the day before taking my sons fishing and all they had left was the Ugly Stik Spincast combo....so I bought two! To make a long story short we only got one cast out of the two rods and we were never able to reel that one in. Neither pole would reel in at all unless there was some preasure on the line, both reels got tangled almost instantly and it was impossible to untangle them. The kicker here is [...] gives you a minor hassle when you return anything, we returned both poles in a wet tangled mess with no objections....which leads me to believe they get a lot of returns on this junk!! Do yourself a favor don't be "reeled" in by the nice looking pole and all the lures at a cheap price...it's not worth the dissapointment on your kids face when they're not able to fish!
