Field & Stream Eagle Talon Kayak
Great Fishing Kayak
I just purchased this kayak about 2 weeks ago and have love every outing with it so far. Perfect boat for fishing. Plenty of room on board with all the extras. Some say you can stand up and fish but it still seems a little too rocky but sitting down, its solid and tracks well in the water. I picked up the matching Field and Stream paddle as well upon purchase.
My only gripe is the front hatch is a little difficult to open and close. I don't think its designed to be used when on the water and more for when you come onshore but it does have PLENTY of space inside for a day pack, food, and extra gear. Some say the seat is a little uncomfortable but I don't find that true at all. Once adjusted, I've spent as much as 7 hrs. at a time on the water and I've felt just fine the entire time.

Unstable for heavy people
I spent a lot of time researching kayaks; sit ons, sit ins, etc. and decided to go with this one. One primary reason was because it is supposed to be stable. Unfortunately, I have actually found this kayak for me to be unstable. It tipped me out the first day I used it, which was quite a shock as I have never been tipped out of a kayak before, and this one is supposed to be more stable than other kayaks I have used. I am a heavy person, but with the 400 lb capacity I have more than a hundred pounds of wiggle room. I am thinking that they should probably reevaluate the weight capacity for this kayak so others don't end up disappointed.

This was a fantastic purchase. The only issue i have had is the anchor that comes with it is way to light for open water.

It's built for serious use
After literally shopping in-store, online and watching classified ads, I finally took the plunge and bought my Eagle Talon kayak. As a former licensed guide/outfitter in the Pacific Northwest, I am used to putting my equipment through heavy use and this 'yak is perfect for me. On the first day I noticed that it was much more stable than the kayaks I had rented after moving to Florida. It is somewhat heavier, but mostly due to the heavy construction. That is also what makes this a good boat for the serious fisherman. I like the adjustable foot braces, the ample storage and the hull construction includes a mid-hull chine which allows for steady tracking. My only complaint is that the back on the seat is a little low, but other than that, it has everything I've been looking for in a kayak. Pricewise, it was clearly the best boat for the buck.

Great kayak for the price
Of course there are better kayaks on the market but for the price, this is the best sit-upon I have ever owned. It's a mid-level kayak undoubtly but a freaking good one. Only real draw back is the lack of a mount/setup for an aftermarket rudder or skeg.

This Kayak is Awesome
Got the camo one. Took it out to Mosquito Lagoon, caught about 7 trout and one redfish. This is a great value for your money. The only draw backs are the seat is not meant for 7 hours or more of fishing (as I learned the hard way : ) The front rod holder is a little too far up, but manageble, and there is no way you will ever get into the front storage area because, one, it is too far up, and two, the rubber hatch is so hard to get off and on.
Otherwise..........it is AWESOME!!

A lot of bang for your buck!
This is a great kayak. Like any boat it has pros and cons. I also own a pescador 10 and this boat tracks better and is faster than that kayak. I like to sit sideways with my feet in the water while i fish and this boat is perfect for that.
PROS- It tracks well
-It comes already to fish, with rod holders, trolly, anchor, and stainless eyes for attaching gear.
-pretty quick on the water even with me 6' 240lbs and my fishing gear on board.
-It's got great secondary stability.
-It isn't too difficult to paddle into the wind.
-great price, Find it on sale for $100 off original price
CONS - uncomfortable seat use the money you save by buying on sale and invest in a quality seat
- a little heavy to lift overhead
- you will get wet in this yak
OVERALL - its a great value for you money. If you are like me and you enjoy kayak fishing but you dont have $1200 to spend on a boat this is a great option.

I did quite a bit of shopping for a kayak that I felt would meet the requirements that I had for one. Namely, large enough for me and my dog, sit-on-top, plenty of cargo space, and long enough with enough natural rudder built in to keep me from spinning. This has done all that and more. I feel completely at home on the water in this and, after a little adjusting, the seat was perfectly comfortable for long periods on the water!
