Rated 4 out of 5áby On a budget? This kayak is for you. I recently bought 2 of these Eagle Talons from my local Dick's Sporting Goods. My main use for them was for fishing in lakes and ponds, with the occasional river or big water. On receiving them, both seats and front hatch covers had slits from where (I assume) they had been unpacked from shipping to the retailer. The seats weren't a big deal considering I planned to replace them from the get go. The slits in the front hatches luckily hadn't pierced completely through so it is still water tight. I did not receive much feedback when inquiring about replacement hatch covers. That's why I docked a star. As for handling,it's great! Pretty quick, fairly stable, and not too terribly heavy. I can stand in it, but that has more to do with balance and build rather than the boat itself. The back cargo area is a little narrow, but still can fit whatever you want, with a little creativity. All in all, I would definitely recommend this kayak for a first time buyer that wants a quality Kayak without spending an arm and a leg. P.S. Try and wait until a sale. I picked mine up for $450 a piece. July 26, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5áby This is a great Kayak After reading the review, and lots of research I made the decision to buy this kayak. Taken it to my local lake and I'm just so happy with my purchase. Landed my first fish on 4th of July weekend 2016. I did however got a new seat. Would recommend this Kayak July 22, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5áby great value I have owned my Field and Stream kayak for 2 years and truly enjoy it. I paid around $425 after discounts and feel it is comparable to a Wilderness which is about twice the price. The only negative is the terrible seat. But, for the price of this great kayak, you can spring for a aftermarket seat and still be way ahead of the game. That is the first thing I did and now I am one happy kayaker. This kayak is stable and tracks well. I am very pleased with it. July 21, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5áby Overall, quality yak Took this kayak out for the first time today, it tracks great, takes waves well, and I was happy with the fish caught out of it. The only problem was there must be a leak somewhere because I had my phone, keys, and wallet in the mesh bag under the hatch in the cockpit and my phone got wet and broke. Other than that I'm happy with this yak. July 16, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5áby Great kayak, pitiful seat. The kayak itself is great. It is stable enough and tracks nicely and is an overall good buy. BUT the seat is junk. Be prepared to upgrade the seat if you buy this kayak. I built a canoe seat into mine and now I'm quite satisfied with it. July 12, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5áby Great yak Great yak for everything love it for fishing that's the reason I got it and plus I got it on sale for 399 only thing is the seat definitely change the seat plenty of videos on YouTube for it but overall great yak I'm glad I bought it. July 10, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5áby Am really looking forward to my first time taking this kayak out on some of my favorite streams. I really like the size of this boat and the design. Like the idea of standing and doing some fly fishing. I think the seat seems to be a little thin, but with the price, I can buy a better one. My only real complaint is I received the yak with a fairly big scratch near the round sealed compartment. Didn't send it back because it would be too much hassle. July 9, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5áby Smooth sailing Outstanding value, excellent quality, comfortable, but took some time to get use too. Always had sit-in kayaks. At 68 pounds it was real difficult/awkward for me to lift and off load by myself into and out of my truck bed until I rigged a pulley system to help. Really fun once on the water. July 9, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5áby Kayak is great. Seat is terrible Kayak is great. Seat is terrible. Stable boat, has anchor system and storage. July 8, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5áby Great kayak! Best bang for your buck!! I bought this kayak back when they were on sale and I thought this would be a good one to start with then get a better one but I don't know that I ever will. I had no experience with a kayak much less fishing out of one. The kayak tracks straight is easy to paddle but is kinda difficult to turn sharp. The kayak is super stable to fish out of. The Pros: I can store enough gear and food for a week in the dry storage in the front that runs the entire length of the kayak and a K2 summit 20 cooler that fits perfectly in the rear storage. I use para-cord to tie the cooler down. I can have 3 Plano 3600 series and one smaller box in a locker organizer in the tackle storage behind the seat. My wallet, keys, snack bar, and phone fit in the mesh bag in the locking storage in the sitting area. The back rod holders keep the rods out of the way great while paddling. Without the cooler the net hold all of my stuff great! The Cons: The seat is a definite con. I need to upgrade. Little padding and very little support. The front rod holder is inaccessible for me. I don't have much negative to say about this kayak. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! July 5, 2016
