Rated 5 out of 5 by Matthew Excellent Rod.
For lightweight saltwater fishing (mostly shoreline, bays and inlets for whiting and flounder) these Ugly Stik Spinning Rods are all I use anymore. They have great action and the sensitivity you need for the smaller fish, but I've also caught some nice sized reds and black drum while using these rods and they've never disappointed. The construction is tough, and the action is perfect. My oldest Ugly Stik is probably 25 years old, and never a problem. The new rods seem to be just as well built as the older rods, so I expect the same longevity. Definitely the best value available, in my book.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Colorado Fishing The pole was broken when I got it home.
The pole was broken where the reel connects to the pole. I feel it may have been due to some unusual circumstances. I have other ugly sticks but not the Lite or Ultra. The salesman was very helpful and offered to get me a new one and have it sent to my home free of chagre. I chose not to get one at this time since I have another need with a higher priority. I will be getting one in the near future.

I like this rod. It's an Ugly Stick so I know I don't have to baby it, yet it's light and has a nice feel....and it's not so ugly, after all. Seems well made and I like fishing with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Chet Good ugly as expected
Paired this 7' spinning rod with a quantum PT 30. The total package is very light and easily fishable all day casting inshore. Even used it trolling yesterday near shore and caught a bonito with it. Can't beat the value in an ugly stik. Will purchase another when I get the chance.

I picked up the Ultra Lite version of this rod and paired it with a Shimano Sedona reel. Great price, great durability..i love the cork handle and one piece design. this is my go-to kayak fishing rod right now for freshwater fishing.

I own 6 of the 7 footer and 1- 6'6" and all have been flawless. I mostly fish with 10lb line and landing fish is smooth with slim chance of breaking off. I only use lures on my rigs and I've landed 40 inch REDs with my set up...just need to set the drag right and use a scoop net to get the fish. Biggest line I use is 12 lbs for the big jacks to accommodate their stubborn runs before they give up. I've had no problem with rod guide inserts coming off with this model, stainless seat holding the guide resistant to corrosion prevents this from happening. I've thrown several rods in the past for guides breaking/coming off.
