I have only tried it out to see how loud it is. Thankfully it is extremely loud now let's hope I never need to use it! Lol

I bought this whistle for kayaking. Gave it a try and it works and can be heard quite a distance. It is also USCG compliant. I feel comfortable that if anything happened, someone from the group would hear me.The lanyard is long enough to easily fit over an adult's head and yet not too long.

Whistle is plastic and does not compare to an ordinary coaches whistle. Save your money

Excellent whistle. Has a nice string and is coast guard approved. It makes a lot of noise, so very good product for just a little bit of money.

Works as intended. Didn't know we needed one until the salesperson told us that it was required by NY state regulations.....

Rated 3 out of 5 by nastydog Its a plastic whistle
The whistle is just your average plastic whistle and not even very loud. In fact I can whistle much louder with the two finger on the lower lip method. I purchased three whistles because I was purchasing three kayaks and was informed that they or some type of air horn was required when using the kayaks. Really.... I don't expect to get in any shipping lanes, but I guess you never know...

Well this whistle sure does whistle well. I purchased it to have while kayaking but I'm sure it would also make a great anti-assault whistle if the situation occurred. Safety first people, safety first.
