awsome!! I fish from a kayak in the ocean and I use this rod to catch many different fish. This rod is the perfect strength for what I need and the reel is smooth. Birdnest King My wife bought this real combo for her to use and could not toss it without birdnesting. I use an abu garcia bait caster as well and absolutely love it. However, I couldn't cast this model either without birdnesting. July 11, 2012

Decent Entry Level Conventional Rod/Reel Cheepest Low Gear Ratio Combo i could find. Planned to use this while Kayak fishing as i am constantly in HEAVY slop that most boats cant even dream of making it thru. However, while "learning" how to operate a Kayak, while fishing, while standing, while in heavy cover, i managed to dropped it overboard. Now i know why i should be using rod floats/rod leashes. I did get to use it on three different trips prior to this, and each time it only backlashes if I did something wrong, i.e. hit the water on my back-cast, try to hard into wind, etc. Would defiantly recommend this rod for beginners or those wanting a nice heavy torque reel/rod for heavy cover and slop fishing. Great combo price Abu Garcia put together a nice combo at a very reasonable price. This reel is light, yet powerful enough. I filled it with 20# braided line, and it does a great job fishing salmons and lake trouts. May 7, 2012
dont buy this combo this product sucks i would never tell someone to buy this i didnt get to fish with it but one time before the button to cast it broke and u cant push it down. also, it doesnt cast more then about ten feet i am taking mine back cause its broke. i dont know if i just bought a bad reel or wat but i would reccomend spending just $25 more and getting the new abu garcia pro max thats wat i am doing. Keep going Abu garcia I use it for bass, catfish, red fish, sheepshead , and I'm going to try it for spade fish , and shark. It is a great pole for braid. I've never rat nested it once . Very easy to use. The only problems are that the one I got didn't have a cap for the free spool drag. January 1, 2012
work horse This was my first real rod and reel. It took a while to learn to throw a bait caster but I'm glad I stuck with it. This combo is perfect for bass. I've even used it for catching Speckled trout in saltwater. Its makes a great pier rod for bottom fishing as well. This combo is also well able to bring in catfish from the river.
