Great Reel The reel has done great. Caught trout, mackerel, small shark, cobia, and a variety of other saltwater fish. The drag is super smooth, some complained about line twist. Mine has not yet produced any. The only issue is if you turn the real in the opposite direction it will come loose, that's because the other side doesn't let you tighten it and is part of the reel. Other than that its a great product. May 21, 2013

solid and smooth reel but a little heavy This reel is solid and has a very smooth retrieve. Great workmanship but the materials make it heavy. This should last a good long while though. Happy with my choice for now. February 26, 2013

quality reel After buying cheap combos I finally spent some money on a quality reel. This reel is awesome, extremely smooth and rugged. The bail on this reel is heavy duty, not a thin piece of wire you get with a lot of cheaper reels. I don't think you can buy a better reel for the same price. Happy Fishing! January 30, 2013
Low quality I bought a penn 4000 battle reel. The reel is a piece of junk. Had problem the 1 st time I fished with it. The gears were skipping with 15 pound striped bass on the line. Just barely got fish to boat. And lost another fish. Stay away from this reel . I sent reel into penn for repairs . Got reel back . Went fluke fishing and reel was still skipping gears January 14, 2013
