I'm relatively new to fishing. I bought this to help me get an idea of how big fish actually were. It works great. I guessed that my first bass was 14 pounds. I was a little off. I like that it's compact and lightweight and easily fits in my tacklebox. Plus, it doesn't need batteries or any that other stuff.

I tried this out on a large carp and it said it was only two pounds... But I could barly lift it, knowing it was over 15 to 20 pounds. So I would not tell anyone to buy one.

Recently bought me a new Eagle Claw fish scale. My last one died of old age at about 25 years old and around 8,000 fish measured (honest--that many fish!!). This is about the fourth one I've owned. If it didn't do a good job I wouldn't use it. These suffer from much abuse on my favorite trout streams, being dropped in the water, "borrowed " by the kids, getting lost. Nevertheless they keep on working.

I would not recommend this product. A week after I purchased this the "hook" part of the scale broke off in my tackle bag and it was unusable. The tape measure part works, but the writing is very small.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Intellione Great value for the price
I have used this tape measure/weight...and I find that i can keep it anywhere and use it anywhere. Very handle, small, and less stuff you have to carry. Great deal and the weight is very accurate.
