CargoLoc Garage Hoist 4.1 5 58 58
Robust System - bought 3 I just got a Kayak for my anniversary and nowhere to store it but up. I shopped around and this was the only 100 lb capacity I found. I also found a cheap one for 10 dollars but it could only hold 40 lbs. and another for $99!! I wanted a robust (would not fail) hardware system and I found it. My garage ceiling is 8 feet. I read online that someone had issues with the straps sliding on the Kayak. I did too and I just tied a line between the two straps along the keel line. If you need a hoist for anything look no further the price is right and the strength is all there. Caution: the system has an auto lock that bights on the travel lines. When lowering I found that I had to release one end 6-8 inches and then alternate because the locking system prevents a free fall, which is good I am happy and my Chevy Equinox fits in the garage without issue. Good with minor issues. The kayak storage pulley system works great. It is easy to lift the kayak and it locks into place easily. On the negative side, it does not pull up snugly to the ceiling. The loops for the kayak are too long, making the kayak hang too low. The hooks for the loops are long, making it hang even lower. If I had not modified the product, it would have hung about six feet off the floor, leaving no place for my car and also making it impossible to walk around in the garage. The whole idea is to get the kayak out of the way. I had to create my own loops and hang the pulley system from the upper rafters. The engineers should design a shorter hanging system that gets the kayak right up to the ceiling. Simply adding more loops in the hanging straps would solve most of it: a matter of sewing a few more stitches. April 29, 2013
Hoist This product is well made and the installation instruction are very clear. Good Value April 16, 2013
Excellent Value I use these hoists to store two kayaks in my garage. The kayaks weigh 43 and 60 pounds, well within the 100 pound limit of the hoist. The hoists are excellent for this application and are an excellent value when compared to all other available hoist or block-and-tackle products that I could find. The only negative is the quality of the black rope that comes with the hoist - as it shows a bit of fraying after a couple of months use. However, good quality nylon line (for replacement) is available for little money, so I still give the product a rating of 4 stars. April 2, 2013
easy install gets things up and out of the way great by for the price, easy install, gives more space at boat slip March 30, 2013
Easy to install; difficult to lift Yaks The product was easy to install but when it came to raising the yak, I almost had it fall out twice. It looked like an old 3 stooges episode with me as the only stooge. The web straps kept wanting to slip apart and slip off the kayak; in my case slip to the front or back of the yak causing the other end to nose dive. I believe the answer will be to tie the two web straps together at the bottom to keep them from slipping apart. Otherwise the product works as designed. March 4, 2013
Easy It was a easy setup and very strong. Will be getting one more. February 28, 2013
This product has great features, and space-saving. The quality of this product is very good. It allows for space-saving capacity and easy access within our garage. February 26, 2013
Very Happy Easy to install, good directions, no problems at all. I hooked directly to the kayak carrying handles at each end and did not use the straps. The kayak would have hung too low with straps. Hangs 30" or so below ceiling using hooks only. Definately thread rope on the ground before you hang pulley assemblies....good tip I read in other reviews. Buying another for the lakehouse!
