Have had this bike for 2 years. I am 6'3" and i got the 22" frame. Really like this bike. I like the simple fork ( no oil seals to blow out). The tires are almost too sticky, if that's possible. The stem seems a little too long, and I wish this bike had 31.8 Diameter bars. I wish the bars were 700mm wide, also. They are 635 mm wide. Out on the trails, the bars seem fine ( go figure). After I put a rack on the back, and a bag on the rack, I really like this bike. I do all my own maint and adjustments. Never had a problem with this bike. I am 51 years old and don't ride hard, at all. I wanted a bike with good brakes, a giant frame and no problems. I am a happy dude, I even like the seat. I am trying to get my brother to buy one, too. I figure, if I don't try to kill this bike, it should be good. I plan on keeping it forever, or until I die. Highly recommended !!

Rated 3 out of 5 by klayer Fine for what it is
This bike is a lower-class mountain bike bought in a department store, so you can't go into it expecting it to be good. For the price, it is an average bike that meant to be used for cross-country. It fits the bill and the price tag, though. It doesn't excel in much else besides cross-country.

Rated 1 out of 5 by kesosip No better then a walmart bike!
I owned this bike all of three months before, I replaced it with a specialized hardrock. The diamondback response xe uses a freewheel hub which places the weight of the rider on the outer edges of the axle. Its very easy to bend or even break the axle in the rear wheel. The one bolt seat post is also poorly designed, and makes it dificukt to set the seat angle with out slipping occuring, mine eventually broke all togeather. The original price of this bike is $575.00, while the specialized hardrock a much better bike is $550 and made in America to boot! Diamonback is no longer a top brand, your first clue to this is they are now sold in department stores. Do your self a favor and look in to specialized bikes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Jasper C Excellent bike, but made to be proprietary.
Pros: So I have had this bike for about 2 years I think, and it still works great. It's pretty sturdy and has nice brakes.
Cons: Cause it ways 45 pounds your brakes will become useless of about a year of biking. Many people (even me) had to go back to the shop they got it from to get the bike maintained for gearing issues. As the title says this bike is made to be proprietary, as in racks are hard to find along with front fenders.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Trail Rider Awesome Mountain Bike
I have had my bike for about a month now and have taken it through some really rough trails here in Richmond, Va. For those familiar with the area the Buttermilk Trail is a serious ride. I have had a wonderful experience with this bike. I bought this bike at Dicks Sporting Good. The quality is top notch. Everything has worked as it should from day ONE. The Gear shifting is smooth and is very dependable. The chain is not a high end chain but does the job just fine. The frame is light weight and sturdy. The from suspension system is easy to adjust for different terrain. The grips are great but when they get wet can be a bit slippery. I recommend some good gloves. The Tires grab on to everything from rocks, roots, leaves and grass. The quick release wheels are awesome for throwing this bike on the fork mount roof rack of my car and for removing for cleaning up after a ride. The disc brakes stop you on dime even when muddy and wet. I'm not sure why some have had problems. The bike whisperer, Ashton, at Dicks Sporting Goods assembled it and tuned it for me and I haven't had any problems. All in all a very good deal on an awesome bike. PROPER MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING IS A MUST

Rated 5 out of 5 by DKauf93 Great bike for a great price - lots of potential for upgrades
So I have been riding this bike for a few months now and I have come to a few conclusions about this bike:
1. It is a GREAT entry level bike if you keep all of the original parts
2. It can be an amazing bike if you are willing to upgrade a few of the parts
3. The disc brakes are an attractive feature, BUT the tektros that come on it constantly need adjusting
4. The frame is without a doubt the most attractive aspect of this bike. It can take all kinds of abuse
But the bottom line is for the money whether you plan to modify it or not, this bike is a steal!
