The reel broke after two casts by my granddaughter. My son and I tried to fix it for my sad granddaughter, but to no avail. My son took the rod back to a Dick's store in Albany, NY and they replaced it without question. You satisified a disgruntled client.

the kids had a ball and even caught fish
it is a barbie pole - they loved it. one granddaughter just liked casting so we did not even add a hook. She just cast and cast with the small fish that was attached.

All looks, no function.
Right out of the box the drag on this pole does not work. My daughter was using the training plug that the pole comes with and she couldn't reel it in because of the drag. I tried adjusting it and no matter how much you mess with it it doesn't work.

just right for a little one.
I like this because it is easy for a young child to use, it also is great for girls who like the design. They are more likely to enjoy fishing at the beginning if they like their equipment.

THe product was used to fish the Lehigh River in Pennsylvania. I casted it for my 3 year old daughter and she was able to reel in a 12 inch trout. The pole casts well and my daughter enjoys that it lights up. The line used in the pole is cheap and too thick for trout fishing.

pretty but not any good
My little girl only cast it a few times before the reel locked up. The light also quit working right before it totally broke. Save your money and your time explaining to your three year old why she cant use her fishing pole.
