The Shakespeare® Synergy Classic Spincast Combo boasts a two-piece, graphite composite rod combined with a Synergy spincast reel. The rod features cork handles and a twist-lock reel seat while the reel provides one ball bearing plus a one-way clutch instant anti-reverse bearing and a machined aluminum front cone and handle. This combo comes filled with 10 lb line.

This product is flawed
It would appear to be a great value. The line constantly snags when you cast it out. I plane on taking this back, but I have not had the time. I have had several closed reel fishing rods so I do not think that it is how I am using the product

Great entry level rod
I normally don't post reviews but had to after seeing all the bad reviews. I've been using one of these for a few months now (probably 10-12 trips) and have had good luck with it. The only problem I had was a tangle, once. I opened up the reel and untangled it, cut the line back and put it back together. After that it casts smooth and reels in smooth. The wife has caught a few yellow perch, catfish and bass with this combo. I would highly recommend this as a backup or beginner combo. I'm buying another as a backup for my spinning reel.

The reel worked for less than 1 hour of casting.

good reel the line it comes with is sorry it keeps knotting up inside the reel but replace line and works fine

Inexpensive and works
Not great not bad, does the trick. Anything under $20 falls apart in your hands, anything over $50 is not for casual fishing. Would still like to find something dependable for under 20.

Not that bad
It's a good product if you change the line in the reel, If u don't they break quickly. I used berkly smooth cast 10 pould and have alot of use on this reel. Dont change the line it's a one day reel

Broke after first use!
Rell broke after first use. Started grinding then the handle jammed. Last Shakespeare rod or reel for me, they have no quality control, you may get a good one or you may get junk. Sorry, had enough of this junk from [*].

Not very durable
The reel stopped working the second time my daughter used it. Took it back and got a Zebco.
