Customer Reviews:

Rated 4 out of 5 by Great canoe however... Great product - and good price..however it ISN'T a "Guide 158" model, no such thing. A little research on the Old Town website, in the pdf files of 'product guides' will clearly show that it is actually a "Discovery 158" model canoe. The differences become very obvious once you know what you should be looking for. First and most obvious differences are : Old town never made a 158 guide - just a 147 or a 160 length model all the way back to 2007! 'Discovery' model has 158 since inception. Lack of a 'chine' found on Guide hull design is real obvious, a really important feature if that is what you desired for secondary stability! Extra ash stern thwart NOT found on Guide model. Moderate 'rocker' hull that gives it a more rounded (or upturned) bow and stern line. The Guide model is more angular. Then upon a closer look: Beam (width) on Discovery is a narrower 35 inches Guide is 37+ Discovery 158 has straight sides and 21.5 bow height Guide 160 is 19 inches. I also have the 'rod holder' decks on mine that don't generally come "stock" as near as I can tell. Also I purchased mine in June of '16 and the serial no is a 2014 mfg. date. I am not complaining here since I feel I received a more expensive canoe with 80 bucks extra in the deck plates, however if you had decided on the "Guide" series for any of the above features just know you are getting a different model, length, no chines hull design etc. l suggest you go to the website and discover for yourself that this is actually a "Discovery" 158 model canoe. I can't find any info on why this is so, but would like to know. I have already changed the decals on mine! Thanks. I hope this info is of use to someone. It's really very obvious once you know! I took a star away because I had to do the research to "Discover" the mystery. July 10, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by like a Cadillac Me and my fiance bought this canoe and have taken it out several times on our local creeks.this canoe is very very stable.we have both stood up in it and she has only been canoeing a hand full of times.she has jumped out of the canoe to try and tip it but it never even came close.we have also floated 3 adults in this and it done great.i modified the back seat by dropping the back of it by an inch and glueing some grip padding to it and this thing feels as good as my Lazy Boy recliner.it also has plenty of room for coolers, life jackets,2 small dry storage boxes, tackle box and 2 fishing poles.could haul plenty more if needed.if your looking for a very stable canoe, this is it, cant go wrong with this one.handles very well and seems to be very durable. I absolutely LOVE this canoe. July 10, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great My wife and I have been taking this canoe into the BWCA and have never had a problem. We pack too much and load it down, we have paddled across Brule in a stiff wind without an issue. The seats are great for extended paddles, it has a great load weight, and it tracks well no matter the conditions. When we paddle locally we get both our kids and our fishing gear in it and have all the room and stability we need. August 8, 2013
