This kayak is a great starter kayak. I've had it for several weeks and it has worked great. I use it for long trips on rivers and lakes.

I owned this kayak a few years. I mostly do river trips with it but have taken it out on small lakes as well. I think it's fast and tracks well, also people I kayak with are impressed with the speed. I mainly chose it for the storage being I enjoy overnighters on the river. One big downfall is no cup holder but my clip on one works fine. I like that it has the rudder mount but haven't purchased the rudder kit yet, maybe this year. The seat is much better than others I've seen, love the adjustable hight on the backrest but it could use a bit more cushion in the seat if your going to be in it for most of the day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jay IMO This Boat Cannot Be Beaten For The Money
The Conduit has what separates the non-serious boat from the serious boat:
You will at some point in time take on serious water or roll any kayak. Yes, you will. You can recover this kayak much more easily than a non-bulkheaded boat, and not have to leave it in the drink.
I've had this boat for two years. The Conduit is fairly fast and tracks well. At times I've had to really pour on the coals to avoid windcocking with strong winds abaft, but so far have been able to handle every wind situation -- not easily like a longer more expensive boat, but still handle it by really paying a price in calories expended. A lightweight paddle with not too much blade area helps a lot.
IMO limit this boat to rivers, lakes, and bays, and don't go very far into blue water if at all. It's fairly easy to throw on top of a vehicle, not too bad to portage, and easy to portage with a high quality set of wheels that can be broken down and put in a hatch.
You can stay out for some days with this boat with very, very lightweight primitive camping equipment as most people will not be able to carry much beyond their bodyweight.
This boat doesn't do anything perfect, but does a whole lot of things pretty well.
No regrets, this was an excellent purchase for me.

Rated 2 out of 5 by IO Don't buy it
I bought the kayak in June, but I didn't have time to put it on the water until September. To bad for me, because I can't return it now. Poor tracking, and I'm talking about a perfectly calm water. I found the kayak to be quite instable. I wonder what will happen when the water is a bit choppy.
The only good thing about it is the ease of access for guy over 6.2 and way to many pounds.
My advice is spend a little more, like double :-) and get something better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by florida_paddler amazing boat for price!!!
. I got this boat four days ago and just got home from my first outing in it. I'm incredibly happy that I went with this kayak. I've been renting for years, but this is the first I've owned, and I didn't want to drop a grand on my first. Got mine on sale for the blue model and another 10% off for signing up for a dick's credit card. (many thanks to the other reviewer who pointed this out!).
. I'm 6'3" and 165 lb., entry is easy thanks to the cockpit size. I haven't learned wet entry yet, but don't think it will be a problem as I am able to pull my legs out of the cockpit, while seated, and rest my feet on the deck and can still paddle sitting like that. Foot rests go back far enough that my knees can fit fully inside the cockpit, if I decide to get a spray skirt. My feet can touch the foam of the front bulk head, I'm staying conscious of this so I don't accidentally kick it and damage water tightness.
. I took it out for about four hours today in the gulf of mexico, off the dunedin causeway. This is a fast boat. I was easily passing my friends who had each rented a wilderness systems 14' sit-on-top (granted, sit-in should out pace a sit-on, but I was impressed by how effortlessly I did so). The wind kicked up fiercely while we were out and the seas rose to three foot swells. My conduit stayed stable. Though, I can't lie, I did get nervous for a second, or two there. I was hit by several waves that swamped me a little. Had about a gallon and a half in the boat when we got back to shore, and both hatches were still completely dry.
. The only cons I've noticed so far are: The seat could use a little more cushioning, but I also have a boney hind end. A drain plug would be nice. And a paddle holder bungee would be a simple addition.
. As other reviewers have pointed out, this seems to be a rebranded Dagger Catalyst. Under that badge it went for 800-900. It would be a really good boat at that price. What it sells for at dick's makes it a fantastic boat.
I hope this was helpful and happy paddling!

I love this kayak! It's both sleek and beautiful. It handles very well, not matter the weather. Wind and waves seem to make it stronger. I purchased a 1/2 skirt to keep out the water and it seems to work pretty well. It easy to enter and exit. Steers straight, maneuvers on a dime with practice. Seat is pretty comfortable. Hatches stay dry. It's fast! Very, very fast... It is pretty inexpensive compared to the big brand names and seems to have found a way to incorporate all the best features of the top line models. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles as the more expensive models, but you can easily purchase what matters most too you. This is an excellent kayak for both the beginner or you novices. You'll be please from the start! Check out Dick's Sporting Goods. They beat all other prices hands down, especially if you show up in person. I enthusiastically recommend this kayak.

I love the Conduit especially like the large cockpit. This boat has great balance and tracks well in both open waters and on the river. It has wonderful manuerbility and packs well. I used it on day trips and a 5 day 131 mile trip and it was fantastic. The hatches are large enough and water tight. The seat although padded could have little more padding but the adjustable backrest compensates for it. For the price this may be the only boat you will ever need.

Rated 4 out of 5 by BillBoze Very well made boat!
I am new to the kayaking sport so my feed back is going to be limited. I have used other kayaks and feel the conduit 13 is the perfect fit for me. The bungie tie down loops are directly molded into the deck of the boat which makes for much more water tight deck versus screw down cleats. The boat is very stable, not once did I feel as if I could not control the boat. My first day out I paddled about 2.5 hours and thought the seat was very comfortable. My use will be mainly back bays and creeks. The only issue I have with the boat is the tracking in wind above 15 knots. If you keep the bow into the the wind or the stern with the wind you should be fine. The kayak is set up to except a rudder system, I am not sure if I will purchase one. Great boat, well worth the money.
