Great All-Around Kayak I have owned my perception kayak for about 3 weeks now and I couldn't be happier with it. It is an amazing flat water boat. I had originally planned on buying a Future Beach kayak from Dick's and changed my mind after seeing the perception. This is my first kayak. It is plenty stable and its sleek design makes it a speed demon in the water, even for inexperienced paddlers. I would recommend this kayak to any beginer or intermediate level kayaker. I took this out with friends for my first trip and I was well ahead of them being completely new. Overall a great recreation kayak for any skill level. May 7, 2013
Great Boat! My wife and I each bought one of these last year at the Memorial Day sale. After 2 years of seasonal use (3-4 days/wk) they are both in great shape. We use them in salt water, along the coast and in tidal rivers and they have been great. We stay dry, even when going around points/peninsulas where the water gets a little rough. I would not want to go in true open ocean, but these have been fine for crossing small bays, coves, etc. Also, we put in on rocky beaches and concrete ramps and have run into the occasional shallow rocks and have had no problem. Our goal was to get boats that we could use and not worry about and these have been excellent. Very durable, fun and easy to use, low maintenance and useable on rivers, lakes and coastal ocean. We have the same minor complaints voiced in other reviews about no drain plug in the seating space, the cover on the dry compartment being difficult to open and no cup holder. But, these are very minor issues that are easy to work around. November 25, 2012
Great little kayak I bought this as my first kayak. I love it!! The only thing I would have negative to say is it dosen't seem to track straight for me, but that might just be me. September 3, 2012
Great Boat!!! The day i bought thit boat i took it to the buffalo river in tennessee and it performed excellently! it tracks well for a shorter kayak and the hull is tough the only problem i had was the dey storage leaks a little but i have a dry bag so thats not a big issue. All in all i think this is a great kayak! July 27, 2012
Much better then expected. I have a Perception Swifty 9.5 that I have paddled many, many times. I wanted to try a little longer and narrower kayak (and one with better back support). Wow what a surprise. The rhythm 10 is notably faster than the swifty. Much more efficient and it even glides when you stop paddling. I had to special order the rhythm 10. I'm surprised the Dicks in my area don't stock them. The swifty is fine and I will use it for fishing primarily only now. June 21, 2012
Great River Runner! This is my second kayak, my first kayak is a future beach trophy 126 (A very nice kayak for fishing however not so great for whitewater). I bought this kayak so i could run the James River in Richmond VA and so far it's served me well! Very responsive and fast, and stays very dry with the help of a spray skirt. In regards to the drain issue, I bought an aftermarket drain for it so now it drains fine. The drain was about 9.00 bucks and was really easy to install. If your a beginner looking to have a good all around kayak i would recommend this boat. November 10, 2011
Great Boat I purchased this boat back in August and got a few good months out of it so far. I am very pleased with my purchase and cannot wait until the springtime to go out again! I use it mainly on Lakes/Ponds but also used it on parts of the Lehigh River in the Poconos. Very stable & tracks well. November 5, 2011
A perfect kayak for recreational use I paddle every Wednesday with a group that has all different kayaks. Some like sit in, some sit on. I like it because everything stays inside the boat. Cell phones, drinks, fishing gear. Very manuverable and stable. The seat is real comfortable and adjustable, a must. The dry compartment is perfect. I would recommend this to everyone, affordable too!!!! October 23, 2011
Love it! I use this boat for rivers, and lakes and have been so happy with it since day one. It has plenty of storage above and below deck. I'm 6'2" and 210 and I fit very comfortably in this boat. It tracks well, and moves along fairly well for a boat of this length. July 18, 2011
Midstream-Good for the $ I bought a patomic yak and returned it for this one. The cockpit is larger, more room for legs, feet, storage. there is a carrabeaner to lock a dry box and slide it in between seat and frame. balances well, tracks great, perfect length. There is foam padding around cockpit. Major +. I have a bad back, and the seat has padding, and there is adjustment for back rest. I can do a 6hr run with comfort. The only thing I'm disapointed with is the drain. I thought that the way the seat is moulded, any water trapped in cockpit would travel around the seat and along the side walls and the walls of the dry well, and out the drain when standing yak up. I was wrong. The foam wall is completely sealed between cockpit and drywell. Why have a drain plug for a dry well? But, to be honest, you can flip yak upside down if you have a lot of water, any little water can be absorbed with a sponge. (your supposed to clean it anyway.) I bought a fishing pole holder, paddle holder, a self bailing pump, (if you take on heavy water) and bunji straps. All accesories are screw on, and assembled with ease. I added extra bunji over top of the dry well area (rear of yak.) gives me more holding capacity for camping gear, dry bag, fishing gear, ect. your not going to use the dry well while on water, so the bunji gives better access to the items you want like fishing tackle, drink, ect. This kayak is a great buy for any level of experience. There is plenty of room for any accessory you may need, and you can carry everything you need for a camping trip and paddle safely.
