Rated 5 out of 5 by came back for second one Purchased this model last year. Loved it. Came back for another since my wife liked so much as well. Light. Comfortable. July 2, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Boat Most reviews are from people who are excited because they've had it for 2-3 months and like the boat and didn't wait long enough to actually try it out. I've owned this boat since 2010 and it is still a great boat! Slight leakage under the rear bulkhead into the dry hatch but that's what they make dry bags for! I have had this in calm lakes, wavy lakes, class II rivers and even launched it in the Delaware Bay out into the Atlantic Ocean (you'll need a touring skirt for this)! I highly recommend this boat to beginners and even experienced paddlers. May 17, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice boat for the price We have had these kayaks for just about 1 year now and LOVE them! We purchased 2 of them in early 2013 and have used them numerous times throughout the spring, summer and fall. For the price, this little boat is sturdy, waterproof and easy to handle alone. The dry well has stayed dry for us but make sure the drain plug is tightened or you will get water in the well. For longer trips we pack gear in protective dry bags just in case, but I can tell you I have not had water in the well. The seat is comfortable as and we like having the padded protection for our legs. I can say we are very happy with this purchase and you will be too if you are in the market for an affordable kayak. Rated 2 out of 5 by Expected too much from this model The Perception Sport Rhythm 10 is pretty stable. It weighs only 41 lbs. so I can easily carry it to the beach, even with one hand. I can also load it onto my SUV's roof rack by myself. It was very inexpensive at the sale price I paid. I have been renting and borrowing kayaks all summer and decided I wanted to own one myself. The ones I was using were in the 12 to 16 foot range the latter being used for ocean kayaking. The 12 footer was a Prijon Capri Tour day touring and recreational model which I liked alot. The 16 footer was a Perception Sport Eclipse with rudder which was also fast, tracked beautifully but was less stable. I decided to go for the Perception Sport Rhythm 10 foot kayak based on the fact that the Perception models I rented were great and the fact that I need to easily handle it myself. I will not be doing ocean kayaking with my purchase, just lake, pond and river touring. I'll continue to rent the longer kayaks for ocean touring. The Perception Sport Rhythm 10 was on sale at Dicks at a very substantial discount so I decided against the Rhythm 11 or 13 foot models that I was considering. I now realize that this was a mistake as a 10 foot kayak is a real compromise. I used the Rhythm 10 for the first time on a calm lake with a 0-5 knot wind. The water ranged from glass smooth to 4" waves if you can call them that. This kayak does not track well at all. I wasted so much energy trying to correct for this over the one hour I was on the lake that it took the fun out of my experience. Forget about doing all-out rhythmic paddling. You will have to do two strokes on one side or the other every 3rd or 4th stroke to keep going straight. The instructions said nothing about how to adjust the seat which has a bungee with 2 hooks in it's back. Have no idea what this used is for. After one hour my rear end was feeling the cheapness of the seat bottom. It needs better padding. This kayak is slow and requires extra effort to cover a long distance compared to the longer ones I've used. This is a very wide kayak causing me to constantly bang the sides with my 220 CM paddle. I had to make a very conscious effort to avoid this which wasted more of my energy. The foot pedals are placed too high even for my size 8 feet. I could not get the pedals under the balls of my feet because my toes contacted the underside of the deck. The pedals only lock when pushing on them. Accidentally pulling back on them would adjust them backwards or they would slide right off the rails! No place to put a water bottle. No drain plug in the main hull, only on the rear watertight compartment. Forget about getting into the watertight compartment while seated as the excellent-sealing rubber covers are impossible to get off from that position. I'll give this kayak one more try but I'm pretty sure it's going back for a longer, better-built model. I've been spoiled by the better ones I've tried. This one is really more like a toy in comparison. August 25, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Not a bad kayak for the money We bought 3 Rhythm 10.0 Kayaks we also have 3 other kayaks. The kayak does have a problem tracking but that does make it easier to do quick maneuvers to avoid obstacles. I like it compared to my other kayak because you have more room for your feet so your not sitting like a duck. The compartment does an excellent job of keeping stuff dry. One of the odd things is the drain plug is in the compartment and not one in the cockpit making it hard to drain when you get water in it. August 8, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by decent beginner kayak I can put the boat on my car by myself as it weighs 42 lbs. Easily entered and exited, adequate seat, adjustable foot pegs. Easy to paddle but requires constant attention to keep on straight track. On the other hand, it is very manuverable which is a big plus in narrow venues like Oak Orchard river. Seems to handle wakes well from passing power boats. Plastic hull can take abuse from rocks, submerged trees. One water proof bulkhead in stern makes for a good drywell. Handles Niagara river, inner harbor, Ellicott crk, Erie canal, Oak Orchard equally well Good value July 23, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Worth the Price! I purchased this 10? Perception Sport Rhythm kayak for my 71 year old wife, who has never, ever kayaked before. She loved it from the start. It is well balanced. It is NOT tipsy! She was able to move in all directions without fear of flipping over. This Kayak is pretty stable, attractive and well priced. It is easy to both enter and exit without assistance. Her first water adventure was here in Lincoln City, at popular local Devil?s Lake. She just wanted to go out for an hour for her first test run but we ended up spending nearly three. Not advertising, but Dick?s Sporting Goods, here in Oregon had the best prices of anyone else around. I believe that the Rhythm is a quality kayak and would not hesitate to suggest the purchase of this kayak to any of my friends. July 3, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great little boat for the money! I bought 2 rhythm 10's after reading mixed reviews of the 10 and 11. The 10 is a great bargain for beginners such as myself and my husband. We've been out 3 times since our purchase a few weeks ago. Get dry bags as the storage is not water proof. The opening is wider, so you will want to accommodate this with a longer paddle. Our salesman sold me a 210cm, but I ended going with a 230cm. I'm only 5'3", so this seemed odd to me! Tracks decently, and the seat is relatively comfortable. June 3, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great All-Around Kayak I have owned my perception kayak for about 3 weeks now and I couldn't be happier with it. It is an amazing flat water boat. I had originally planned on buying a Future Beach kayak from Dick's and changed my mind after seeing the perception. This is my first kayak. It is plenty stable and its sleek design makes it a speed demon in the water, even for inexperienced paddlers. I would recommend this kayak to any beginer or intermediate level kayaker. I took this out with friends for my first trip and I was well ahead of them being completely new. Overall a great recreation kayak for any skill level. May 7, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Boat! My wife and I each bought one of these last year at the Memorial Day sale. After 2 years of seasonal use (3-4 days/wk) they are both in great shape. We use them in salt water, along the coast and in tidal rivers and they have been great. We stay dry, even when going around points/peninsulas where the water gets a little rough. I would not want to go in true open ocean, but these have been fine for crossing small bays, coves, etc. Also, we put in on rocky beaches and concrete ramps and have run into the occasional shallow rocks and have had no problem. Our goal was to get boats that we could use and not worry about and these have been excellent. Very durable, fun and easy to use, low maintenance and useable on rivers, lakes and coastal ocean. We have the same minor complaints voiced in other reviews about no drain plug in the seating space, the cover on the dry compartment being difficult to open and no cup holder. But, these are very minor issues that are easy to work around. November 25, 2012
