Rated 5 out of 5 by Ron C Great canoe I have had my Discovery canoe for several years Using it for fishing on lakes and rivers. Mounted a 45 lb thrust trolling motor and it glides over the lake and up stream on a power generated river. Canoe offers no resistance to any maneuver one may want to make. We have never had that "tippy canoe feeling" even with two full grown men reaching over to land fish. Best canoe for the dollars invested but that's my opinion. August 4, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by RL in CO Tippy? In defense of the tippy comments. I had recent opportunity to compare an older Guide 147 with a newer one - and at some point they narrowed the design by several inches. The difference in stability between the older version and the newer one were significant - especially for a newer paddler like myself. I still think you can't go wrong buying this canoe. It is a very well-made boat and handles nicely. June 27, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by dedonx love this thing! Glides with ease, great for the family. It's a big guy so be prepared for an awkward 74lbs to get it to the water. Will not float 3 grown men and a full ice chest. We tried. no complaints. May 15, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Joey Best Canoe ever! Most stable canoe I have been in. Does well with tracking and easy to get it going. May 11, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Cowtown canoeist. NOT a tippy canoe. I've owned mine for years and have never had a "tippy canoe" problem with it. Not sure where that comment comes from. March 6, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by dhbp25 Great little canoe This canoe is great. It is pretty stable and can carry a ton of stuff. The weight may be a little much for older folks, but it isn't easy finding a 14 foot canoe that is lighter without spending $$1500 plus. One suggestion if you don't like a sweaty butt, I would look for the cained seats. We changed the seats and found them much more comfortable, Can fit enough food, clothes, and a tent for a nice long few day camping trip. If you plan on having three in the boat it can get pretty low to the water but is still do-able. Good luck, see you out there! June 4, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by connan good stable canoe this canoe is more stable than most I have used, the reason are the ridges that extend near the bottom of the edge of the canoe. ingenious design, it is a little heavy but it makes up for its durability, this will go over rocks and take a great punishment, unlike a metal, wooden or kevlar. I have had an older model old town for over 20 years, what value May 14, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Out Back Great Canoe My wife and I are both 54, and find this to be a very very stable canoe. It holds us and our gear with ease. The person who said it was 'tippy' obviously didn't canoe very much. For the price, you can't beat it ! March 15, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Randy W Horton Great Buy! My family and I are avid canoe and Kayakers. We just purchased the Guide 147 so our 76 year old father could join us and it is great. The person whom wrote, "tippy" must have never used a canoe before! I say buy and enjoy...... December 21, 2012
