Rated 5 out of 5áby ncsudude great beginner kayak for kids My wife and I played around with this kayak at a friend's house this summer. She is 5'3" 120 lbs and had never touched a kayak before. It tracked surprisingly well for a small kayak and she had no trouble paddling around and balancing on it. It seems like it would be great for young kids to learn on since she was at the upper limits of the capacity and had no trouble with it. I was even able to climb onto it from the water and I'm way too big for it (6'3" 225 lbs). I had to keep my legs dangling off the sides into the water but I could sit and it held me up as long as I really paid attention to my balance. I thought that was pretty impressive seeing as how I am almost 100 lbs over the weight capacity and I am taller than the kayak. It was very stable even with the lake being rather choppy so kids and even some petite women should have no problem balancing and paddling around on this kayak. For the money it should be an excellent kayak for kids. August 1, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5áby KFR Great first boat We bought this kayak last summer for our 5 year old. We let him try it in the pool first, now he's paddling 4-10 miles with us every chance he gets. The yak is stable enough for him to jump off of (in the pool of course.) He can maneuver it very well and we are amazed at the stability. I could go on and on, but we love it! May 19, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5áby AvgO Fun boat but first one split at seam allowing water in. I purchased this boat for my 6 year old as a birthday present. Our family kayaks a fair bit and this is a good beginner boat for kids to get comfortable with kayaking. Unfortunately when we took it out the first time I noticed water was getting inside the boat. At first inspection I did not see how it was getting in. Our second trip out I found where the boat was molded together at the bow there was an area not sealed. You did not notice the crack in the hull unless slight pressure was applied. In Ohio you have to register just about everything including this boat. I am able to exchange the boat but I now have to pay another $25 registration for a total of $50 registration for this boat. In short check the sides of the boat carefully to ensure there are no issues with the hull. July 15, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5áby Michelle Wow! This is awesome. My 12-year old son and my 10-year old daughter love this little kayak! It is so much fun and so easy to maneuver. I also love it -- even though I'm 49 years old, I'm only 115 pounds, so paddling this little kayak around was a breeze. But my husband (170 lbs) was too big for it. (We'll just have to get him an adult kayak!) May 12, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5áby Trio Perfect! We have a 9 year old son and this worked perfectly for his first trip down the river in his own boat. We went back to get two more for our 6 year old girls. The instructions say it is approved down to that age range, but we haven't tried them yet. It also holds up to 130 lbs. so we had some small adults using them too. Very useful and easy to transport. Rated 5 out of 5áby Lakelovers Best birthday present! We got this for my daughter's 4th birthday, and she loves it. Daddy was skeptical, he thought they were too young to be in their own boat, but after watching her and her sister paddle around the pool over the weekend, he thinks it's great now too. Perfect size, I like the molded finger grips to carry it, and the pull handle. This was the hit of the party, and now my other daughter wants one for her birthday in 2 more weeks. Once they have practiced lots on the pool, we will be hitting the state parks to check out the lakes. May 28, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5áby Mom of three boys Perfect for kids We bought this kayak and a small ride in kayak on the same day. I have three boys 6, 9, and 12. This one was going to be more for my 6 year old but, they all three took turns between the two kayaks and had a great time. It's easy to turn and very stable. They had such a great time it was worth every penny. Great deal too $100.00 July 15, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5áby Ben Great Kayak for children I bought this kayak for my youngest daughter for her sixth birthday. We have taken it out twice on a lake. At first she was all over the place, but quickly got the hang of going strait. The boat seems to track pretty well (hard to tell when I'm not paddling it myself) and it is definately very stable. It is light enough for her to drag by herself and extremely easy for me to carry or lift into the truck. It is easy to pull on the water as I have discovered that six year olds don't last very long. I just made a rope with clips on each end, she hooks onto the back of my kayak and paddles a little too. The only other thing I wish it had was a seat back for her, though she does not seem to mind. My seatback won't hook on and the seatback that is sold for this boat is $20, but does not look like much. I intend to add some hooks so that she can have a decent seat. I highly recomend this boat and will be purchasing another one for my oldest daughter. It is certainly big enough for them to use into their young teens. September 18, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5áby Boyzmom Great kayak for calm waters Really love this kayak for our boys, ages 8 and 10. They have had a blast on it on the lake. It's very stable, and easy to maneuver. The weight limit is 130 lbs, and although I'm just a tad over that, I was also able to use the kayak. The heavier you are, though, the more difficult it is to balance. My 10 year old also likes to stand on it like a paddle board. Very good investment for beginners. May 30, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5áby DoctorSkiBum Sturdy, well constructed and perfect for children Purchased a blue one and a pink one for 7yo grandson and 5 yo granddaughter to have at the lake house. Both are skiers, wave surfers, etc. so now teaching to become kayakers along with sailing. Both easily took command of their respective kayaks with minimal assist. These are incredibly well made, do not easily tip and hold enough weight for adult accompaniment if needed. Purchased a paddle leash so that attachs easily to the kayak. Thought about back support but thus far they are doing well without it. Both can haul their kayaks in and out of the water due to mounted front pull. Best price anywhere. Did in-store pick-up as the pink had to be ordered. November 27, 2014
