Backpack aluminum frame failed during use
Great features, lightweight, but very poor performance. Waist belt slipped open during hiking and must be tightened every couple of hundred yards; worse slipping when moist. Backpack aluminum broke at the frame / hold-open bar attachment point - vertical frame just snapped and had to be repaired in the field using a carved wooden plug and gorilla tape. Kelty used to be considered a good name. Let's hope Dick's honors the guarantee.

This is a great Backpack.
I bought this Backpack just in time for my oldest son (11 yrs old) to go to Boy Scout Camp. I was able to adjust it to the size for him. He loves it. It performed as advertized.

great for preteens
boy scout camping trips family camping trips plenty of outside pockets for easy access items...flashlight,bug repellent etc. my selling point was the adjustable frame. I don't want to buy another framed pack because he has grown out of it. The only downfall that I have found was that his sleeping bag is too large for the pocket, but he is able to lash it to the frame by himself.
