Rated 2.5 out of 5 by 6 reviewers.
Rated 3 out of 5 by Reasonably good trainer for kids I had a similar mechanism in the 80's when I was a kid and it is great for providing feedback on whether you are swinging up, level, or down on the ball. (It will flop up & down like crazy if you aren't swinging level, but kids catch on quickly). It's good for timing if you hit it when it spins back to you, BUT WAIT FOR IT TO UNWIND, certainly we all have the power to break rubberbands with a bat if we keep whacking it tighter. I've seen other reviews about this product... The stick should NEVER break if you hit the ball most of the time and not the stick. You can add more rubber bands to increase tension, like one of those fitness machines advertised on TV, & this will also reduce rubber band breakage. An adult can use it w/ a ~50% swing to aid in swinging level with little problem. The more legitimate complaint I have is that the rubber bands will spin around the pole after hitting it several times, so 'the ball' doesn't always return to the same place. I've tried pulling them tighter, notching the pole for friction, and used tape to no avail. Glue would be impractical. But, like other reviews that seem too simple to me, there may be an easy & practical solution for this. I gave it an average score b/c it works, but it could use improvement. March 27, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Decent for the money The kids love whacking away on this. Not the ultimate trainer, but good for practicing their swing and honing their hand-eye coordination a bit. Yes, the rubber bands do break, and you will need more eventually, but if you use it properly they will last a while. The main reason they break is kids hit the ball, it swings around the pole 3+ times, then they whack the ball again before the bands completely unwind, then again and again, winding the bands tighter and tighter until they snap. Once we realized this, and let the bands fully unwind each time, the bands that came with it lasted the team for a full season. Even then, most probably only broke because I tended to leave it outside, where the sun/rain weathered the elastics and cracked them. One quip: the bands do twist a little every time you hit the ball. Wrapping electrical tape around them helps minimize this, but still kids may have to step forward a little (making their way arounf the tee) every few swings. March 13, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by useless the rubber bands broke twice a day and now the stick is broken and its been a week. dont waste your money August 20, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by Don't waste your money I bought this product thinking I could save a buck from the more expensive hitting trainers. BIG mistake. The construction quality is poor and one of the bands broke on my first day of use. After about 2 hours of use, I packed it up and took it back to the store. Live and learn, you get what you paid for. July 4, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by Agreed, rubber bands break very easily I bought this for my 9 year old son to help strengthen his swing and also with hand/eye coordination. The product comes with 10 rubber bands, however, on the first day of use, 4 broke. I ended up attaching a couple smaller stretch cords of my own on there and it seems to work okay. If I wasn't in such a rush to get one quickly, I found other brands online that were a bit more expensive, but got much better reviews June 8, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by Rubber bands break easily I originally purchased this product in the store and, after getting home, was suprised to find that the item had cleary already been used (ball had scuff marks), disassembled, placed back in the box with missing parts, put back on the shelf as new. After much inconvenience, the item was exchanged. So far working well, except the rubber bands broke the first day. Extras are provided, but I suspect I will need more soon. September 6, 2011
