Awesome product for weightlifters I used to use basketball shoes for workouts such as squats, deadlifts, power cleans, front squats and jump roping and after a while my feet were killing me. Excellent Lifting Shoe I was considering a dedicated weight lifting shoe like Nike Romaleos or Adistar - but I took a chance with these. I'm glad I did. They have a raised heal to give you better flexibility - not sure the height but it seems to be more than half an inch (hard to measure exactly) Solid base for squating - I'm squating around 370lbs right now and these provide a very solid base, not squishy. These allow me to get deep while snatching and overhead squating and still keep my balance. I have wide feet, they were a little snug at first but after a couple of weeks they've loosen up. Great shoe and I'm glad Asics recognized the strength training market as opposed to only releasing general cross trainers. Typical Asics quality in that they're very well made. February 3, 2012
