Rated 5 out of 5 by Works great! Perfect for someone working up to true pull-ups I recently started P90X and received that pull-up bar as part of that purchase. However, that pull-up bar did not fit in any doorway in my older home. Additionally, it threatened to destroy the door jamb. Perfect Pullup fixed all of that, and more. Not only was the installation flexible and easy, but this is really a great pull-up bar. I am really working on my upper-body strength, and do not yet have the stamina to do multiple sets of real pull-ups. This bar can rotate down for modified pull-ups - which is fantastic for working up to the real thing. I started with feet out in front of me (on the floor), graduated to feet on a chair, and now am starting to do as many "real" pull-ups as I can before shifting back down to the modified ones. It works great. Best part is that it only cost $20! Lots of pull-up bars out there cost more than this, and I'm not sure why you would pay that. This works perfectly. The only 2 cons I can think of are: (1) The joiner ring in the center of the pull-up bar. It's there to allow flexibility in installation, but for close-grip pull-ups that can be a little annoying. But really that's being really nit-picky. I deal with it without a problem. (2) The brackets are "permanent." They screw into the door jamb - which some people might not want. You can remove the pull-up bar when you don't want it there, but the brackets stay. Again, that doesn't really bother me, but I could see where it wouldn't be some peoples' preference. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone looking for a good pull-up bar. July 30, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Value, Easy Installation... This item is simple to install. It took only a few minutes. Comes with a template. You'll spend more time hunting for the right drill bit than anything else. Weight limit of 220#. The arm pivots to allow for two different exercises that will help you build strength for the actual pull-ups. You'll end up with four small holes in the door frame. There are more expensive items but why pay more? October 23, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best deal for a chin up bar I installed the bar under my basement steps in that area of wasted space.Fit perfectly and is a very sturdy piece of epuipment. It comes with all the brackets you need. It even has novice exercises with it. For the price this probably the best chin up bar out there. April 25, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Does its job We have this set up in our basement doorway, with a door. It allows the door to close with no issues. It's a good basic pullup that we can all use, including the kids, since you can lower the bar. Their feet touch the ground when lowered, but they can still pull themselves up. Also, if you're a beginner with pullups, you can keep your feet on the ground and do them until you increase your upper body strength. Nothing fancy but works for our needs. Also, we put tennis grip tape around the handle to make it grippier & it does this without bulking it up too much for littler hands. Probably wouldn't recommend for a tall person unless the doorway is extra high to accomodate the height. It does make metallic noise when lowering the bar. Wish there was some sort of cushion so it isn't as "clangy" when changing its bar position. It does require screws to install. Would have preferred not to have to use screws, but it is pretty sturdy for our use. None of us is over 175 lbs. September 11, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by Pullup for under 180lbs In buying the PPB, it installed easily, does what it promised to do, and works well. My only critique is that if you are bigger individual (over 180lbs) you might want something more secure. This is great for the kids, but not for myself. It feels as though it might come out of the frame when I do a pullup. January 21, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very versatile I love this pull-up bar. Since it can swing down it can be used for lots more exercises than just pull-ups. April 10, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Easy setup, versatile use pretty simple: easy to install. Can perform chin ups, medium width pull ups, Bulgarian rows and angled rows. Perfect for people new to pull ups seeking to reach a great level of ease September 26, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Solid Product Well built and good design. I actually purchased this bar for my gymnastic crazy daughter as a practice horizontal bar. She used the bar in the low swing down position and I use the bar in both positions all without losing the functionality of the doorway being used. The instructional material lends itself to working your way up to those hard to do full pull-ups. Recommend this product. September 11, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Loved product, trouble to install I LOVE this pull-up bar. It's versatile, sturdy and exactly what I need. It was hard to install simply because my door was too narrow for the hardware. I had a friend (architect) look at it and use a small piece of wood to modify the base so it would fit. It is fabulous and I use it every day now. Great, great product! January 18, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Truly does help with pullups I admit, that this wasn't what I thought it would be at first, but it is great. For once I can hang on stuff without my mom getting mad at me. I have never been able to do pull-ups before, but now that I have this, I am actually able to do them! This has helped a lot. January 13, 2015
