I use these skates for pond hockey and recreation skating. I can say that they are very good skates for the money. The break in period is not bad, and they offer pretty good protection for comparable skates in this price range. The one issue is that the Bladz runners are relatively fragile. I split mine right down the middle after a year of use. I called up Easton and despite the fact that it was past the warranty, they shipped me new holders and runners (you cannot replace the runners with the stock holders) to easily fix it. That is really the only defect, and the fact that Easton was willing to stand by the product was very reassuring.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Aryol08 nice skates for beginers
Perfect skates for beginners and for those who are back after a long-long brake. They fit well, easy to break in, durable outside, comfortable inside. The only thing needs to be improved is to strengthen the tongue. The current one does not protect against lace-bite.

The ice skates are of exceptional quality for the price I paid for them. The only thing that would make them better is a little more ankle support, which I am going to fix easily be getting Velcro straps to tighten around my ankles

I bought these to get back into skating. I've had them for a while with about 3 hours on each Sunday skating after 2 months, about 24 hours total on the ice, and the skates still kill my feet. However, if your willing to risk breaking your ankle by keeping the laces lose, you should have no pain. No matter the price, I do not feel these are good skates. Aside from pain, I found my edges quickly.

I bought these skates to do exactly what the product review said, sharpen my skills and just get a cheap pair of skates to get back on the ice after over a decade. The skates are great for the price. At this price range it should be obvious that they will not be heat molded to your feet, and they definately need some extra time breaking them in. Once you beat the life into them, they should last you a while or until you want/need to upgrade.
ONE THING I WOULD SUGGEST is to get these skates sharpened by an equiptment manager or rink owner, as mine were pretty much polished by the guy in the back of the store. It was obvious he knew nothing about sharpening skates as there was absolutely no hollow to the blades of my skates (the hollow is the curve of the metal between the outer and inner edge of the blade). I guess that 's how good of a grind they give you for free sharpening when you buy their skates.
Bottom line: Great skate for the price after you break them in and take them to a rink to sharpen.
