LOVE This Bench
I purchased this bench/rack on Feb. 15, 2013 from our Garner, NC store. It was priced a little more than I had hoped to spend (I was looking for a squat rack, only), but this actually does everything that I needed it for. The lifts that I needed this for are squats, overhead press, and bench press. This fit the bill for all three. I also appreciate that I can later purchase the attachment that will allow me to do leg extensions, etc. All in all, a very good deal. Haven?t had any issues with it at all.

Need to look closer
I just bought this bench and haven't even used it yet and was looking for someone to confirm that the bench seat does not sit square or flush on the base, and that yours also sits off to one edge a little. Also the bench moves forward and backwards so for you all that say the pins are too long all you need do is lift the seat and pull forward and it is perfect set up for doing nice bench press motion without even getting close to pins. For incline bench you lift and pull backwards and it is perfect and no pins in the way.

solid starter system
I have this bench. The longer safety catches are designed to be in the path of the bar. If you move away from them, they are useless. Personally, I do not use them except when
experimenting with a heavier weight. My only issue is the slight instability with the bench. The sliding mechanism underneath the seat causes an off-center problem. Overall, though, this problem is worth dealing with to have a shoulder rack option.

I Do not recommend buying this bench
As other reviews has stated it's almost impossible to perform a basic bench press. The pins that hold the weight bar come to far out and when you are pushing the weight bar up from your chest you hit the pins. The only way I could make it work was to position myself toward the end of the bench where my but was hanging off the bench and even that was not a good solution as my body was not supported by the bench. Would strongly suggest looking for another bench to purchase.
Thankfully the manager at the store was kind enough to let me exchange this for another product despite the fact It was assembled and no longer had the box. Was very happy that they understood my problem and wanted to make sure they had a satisfied customer which I was.

Whats with the long pins??
I have used this only a few times, and each time I have, i've ran into the same issue as listed from others. I just checked to see if anyone else agreed that the pins for holding the bars are longer than needed. I don't mind so much the squat pins, but the "shorter" pins make lifting somewhat impossible. I have trained my gf on pulling them as soon as I push up, and she inserts them as soon as I am on my last rep. Their has been times that she gets nervous and takes alot longer than I expect with replacing them, and so the level of lifting that I am capable of is severely decreased. I will suggest that you look somewhere else for a bench, because this one just doesn't do it.

I like it
Overall I like the bench. Nice and wide, stable, very adjustable and also easy to adjust. Has cheap looking finish and was scratched in a couple places but whatever. It was easy to put together, me and my 10 year old daughter put it together in about an hour but would probably take someone not comfortable with tools alot longer due to all the nuts and bolts. It could have been packaged better to avoid the scratches etc. As far as working out on it, I love it. You can quickly change from incline, decline, flat. Plus if you get the overpriced leg extension you can do crunches etc.

The back rest has NO support and breaks
Horrible design. The back rest is basically floating with only a flimsy weak weld at the hinge holding it in place. That weld broke and the back collapsed after using it 3 times. Of course, dick's only takes it back if it's still in the box, so now I'll have to order another replacement part for this defective design, and have a machine shop weld an I-beam on the cross beam to support the back rest.

Very solid/safe
Ive always owned a standard sized bench press designed for moderate weight lifting. Ive used it with olympic sized weights/barbells however. I never had the proper width on the standard sized one and after purchasing this bench im more than happy. This is a very solid, well put together bench. I love the catches for when your benching alone, like i do most of the time, and using them as well for squatting or rowing etc. That along with the array of inclines/decline and even adjustable seat angles, this bench offers more than just your average piece of equipment. All in all, pretty impressed, the accesories are a little much, but you get what you pay for; quality.
