I have used these climbing sticks in previous seasons. I bought another set for a new location I hunt. The Quality has increased with the way the foot pegs are bolted to the sticks. They have also changed the way the straps secure to the sticks. This removal of the metal S-hooks makes traveling to the stand site quieter. The D-rings that secure each section to another are of good quality. The only negative feedback I have is the sticks are more a gray than black color. This is not a concern for me as I camouflage the sticks with additional color to match my hunting surroundings.

Rated 5 out of 5 by TJ K Safer and Easier on the Knees
I have been bow hunting successfully since I was 12 years old. I am now 49 years old. I prefer ladder stands now for various reasons, mainly comfort and safety. However, when it comes to bow hunting from a hang-on platform stand, we have done away with screw-in steps in exchange for these sticks. I prefer this particular brand because the steps are not staggered, they are straight across from one another. This provides a constant 3 or 4 points of contact approach to climbing and descending. It is also easier on the knees. We can also easily hook our harness hook to the steps as we climb. They are easy to install and the 20' length provides plenty of distance to get ABOVE the platform to climb DOWN upon it, which is the SAFEST approach. I do however recommend using extra straps for safety and ALWAYS check straps prior to climbing and prior to any season start if they were weathered through the summer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jeff Best climbing sticks for your money
These climbing sticks are not the lightest ones on the market, however they assemble is easly. The motorcycle straps are adiquit, I replaced them with inexpensive ratchet straps from Home Depot. This makes them rock solid under foot, and worth the added safety. I also added a coat of flat brown paint, helps them blend in better, prevents theft. With the purchase price of the sticks and the replacement ratchet straps the cost is still significantly less than competitors.

While not as safe as a ladder stand, this is a much better alternative to screw in steps and at an affordable price. After having a screw-in step come out of a tree and breaking my ankle from an 8-9 foot fall, I'm using this stick for all my fixed hunting stands. You will need a fairly straight tree, and remember to inspect the ties/straps regularly and replace after time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by kc double steps
The double steps on this ladder make it much easier to put together. You don't have to worry about getting the sections to line up. Also when installing tree stands it is much nicer to stand with both feet at the same level.
The only down side is it does make the sticks a little heavier than the offset sticks. But not by that much.

For $50 climbing sticks, the greatest benefit here is the value. When these sticks are attached tightly, they feel sturdy. The angled steps are definitely a well thought out safety feature, and certainly lend to a sense of security, especially when it's cold and wet, or even icy.
The only thing I needed to do to modify these sticks was to purchase 12' ratchet straps, as the straps included with these sticks are way too short (6'), and I don't feel secure using a cam system. A 12' strap is usually long enough to wrap around even relatively large diameter trees twice before ratcheting down nice and tight.
I did notice notice rust forming after just a few days, but that doesn't worry me.

Very disappointed in this purchase as it states carry weight is 21 lbs. The box upon delivery clearly states just over 25lbs. 4 lbs is a lot carrying this into the backwoods.

This is one of my favorite hunting purchases. I have used screw in tree steps for years and I never seem to get them placed just right. with the double steps on this ladder you always have a step right where you need it. I did have to use a longer strap for the lowest section because my tree was a little thick but after that I was good to go. My one problem was putting on the upper straps as I go up the tree. But that is really more my fault than the maker. Im a pretty big guy (pushing the max ratting) so my center of gravity is pushed a little further from the tree then the normal person. I solved this by having my 13 yr old son go up and get the straps started then I went up and cinched them down. ROCK SOLID. Its the safest I have ever felt climbing into a tree. Getting ready to order another.
