I will spend the extra $$ for a better model
Motor on 7 1/2 inch machine makes some noise, almost like it's struggling, but no smell or speed changes. I've used it for cutting meats and breads. As the bad review said, the meat spins a bit and binds against the blade. Couldn't get deli thin slices to cut evenly. Ended up having to cut thicker slices. Home made bread isn't cutting too well. If the loaf is no larger than 5 inches tall, it will cut fine without crumbling the slices. If slices are more than 5 inches long, the slices will not be same depth throughout. I adjust to make things work. I've never had a slice before, so I don't know what is good or bad. I'm now looking for a better quality because I think the price of this one is a hint as to it's quality. Blade is a smooth blade, not surrated. I'll buy a surrated blade next time to see if it works better.

It's cheap for a reason
Too good to be true for the price. Blade turns too slow, angles of the machine are off so it doesn't slice evenly. The teeth on the handle that holds your meat on the food tray are too small and don't hold it properly, causing the meat your trying to slice to spin off the food tray, making it a headache to slice anything. It will slice if you have the patience and it's easy to clean (only pros).
