Best pair of binoculars I have ever purchased. Clarity and light gathering are excellent. Appreciate you will need a steady hand to hold 10x but its worth it.I'm looking at objects 200+ yards away. If you don't look past 100 yards you could get the 8X. Not as heavy as I thought they would be and if you wear glasses the view just "pops" when you pull them up to your eyes. Only negative is the rear eye covers which you can attach to the straps but think out the positioning so they are easy to take on and off.

After detailed comparisons at the big sporting good stores for optics, features, performances and values, I kept coming back to these mid-range Leupold BX-2 Cascade 10X42 Binoculars. On the net, there are high consumer reviews praising the benefits these little binocs offer. I found the small size, lighter weight, excellent edge-to-edge clarity, tact sharpness (with great DOF), superb build quality and great dollar value too much to ignore! For the investment, these BX-2's really are overall an Excellent buy and outperform competition at sometimes 2-3x their purchase price!
Their ergonomic design fits extremely well in my hands and provides quick and precise easy adjustments. I found my BX-2's also are excellent in very low light conditions, pulling in details and light beyond my seeing abilities...Ready for the Deer Hunt. At the range, we were able to compare the BX-2's to a $1,600 pair of Swarovski 10X42's. We were all blown away at just how close in optical performance and clarity these were to a very respectable, 5x the price professional binocular...Wow!
With a lifetime warranty and the Leupold reputation for fine quality optics, I expect to pass down my used BX-2's, still in perfect condition!

Rated 4 out of 5 by birdman of allthatjazz "narrow" excellence
no question good quality. excellent image and nice light gathering. but not knowing enuf about bino specs, i ignored the 5.1 field till i practiced with them. if you can accept a narrow field compensated by a good image in low light - if you can train yourself to zero-in quickly - these are excellent binoculars. if you need a wider field, - and for most uses, like birdwatching, a wider field to catch a small and often flitting object is an obvious plus - keep looking!

Great glass, I thought better color correction than the Nikon's I went in to purchase. Went home with the Leupold.

I bought the display model because they didn't have any left unopened, and they have a very sharp image. Probably the best value for the money on the market.

Liked them better than Nikon Monarch's I checked them up against a pair of $2k Swaro's and I thought they actually had better color correction.
