St. Croix Premier 24" Ice Fishing Rods 4 5 3 3
good rod i bought the st croix ice rod on sale for $14.97. original price was $24.95. the first feature that i thought was interesting was the band system they use. the rod comes with two rubber bands that are heat sensitive and tighten to the reel with the heat of a hairdryer. i put the bands on and tightend them but i thought it was a little tricky getting the reel centered and trying to tighten at the same time. the first day on the ice with the new rod was a day of perch fishing. the rod is pretty stiff but also sensitive. the first perch i caught the bands had a little too much give. not sure if i didnt get them tight enough or not but it felt a little unsecure to the pole. one final thing about the rod is that st croix always stamps their rods with their logo, in this case their is no st croix logo, which makes me wonder if it is even a st croix rod. the cork handle has a st croix emblem on the butt but thats it. not a bad purchase but not sure the whole thing is authentically st croix..
