Rated 5 out of 5 by This is so worth it! I mainly use this to practice archery. I realize that I am under utilising the other features for rifle. I was sold on the Leupold after looking through others and finaly asking to see this model. The optics are night and day diferent from the lower priced finders. 6X power seems to be only one time higher than the others but it brings you closer and is still easy to just pick up and locate what you want to range. This is a smaller unit, 3 3/4 x 3 x 1 3/8. I have to brace myself to range smaller (say a well cap out at 50 yrds)(practising guessing distance) However it has enough heft to hold still in one hand and range easy enough, I was just picking small things. I surpassed my expectations there too. I have ranged out to 860yrd across a hill and into a gravel pit. I have also ranged through chail link fences without trouble. The display is super easy to read, the Red display makes much more sense once you use it outside. I changed from low to med, I was in bright sun. It has a last range recall that in bow mode doesn't seem to work. No big deal to me. The display does shut off quick, About 6 seconds. However it ranges so fast it's not a problem to press the power button once to turn back on and once more to range. Really it is fast. It comes with a belt holster (snug, which doesn't mean bad, just that it is new to me and resists any movement in the holster.) When the unit is not in the holster, it has nothing to protect the eye piece or the lenses. It also has a lanyard so you could keep it around your neck. The holster has a guide for changing the tbr settings acording to the bullet your using (Bow is set and forget)(Also Bow only dispays what Yardage/Meter to shoot, not like some that display line of sight (los) and the distance to shoot.) It does give the angle in the lower right. The rubber coating is really non slip as well, I'm sure being small helps but I never felt like I might drop it while handeling and holding it. A more comprehensive manual comes in the box. Yes I would buy it again. Super clear, Super fast and ranging the same thing yields the same reading. April 9, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Leupold RX 1000 Leupold is in a league of it's own when it comes to optics. After testing out several other brands it was a very easy choice. It's probably a little bit more then most would want to spend but you definitly get what you pay for. October 14, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent I debated between this and the Vortex given they both have the bright red display and zoom. I had leaned toward Vortex for the warranty, but the online price here at Dick's was unbeatable. I received my rangefinder in great order, and I cannot be any happier with another product. The glass is great, the zoom is nice, and the display is top quality. No more having to range my target and then hold the display up to the sky to see the distances. I'd highly recommend this product. July 23, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Worth it! Looked at a lot of rangefinders, this one had great reviews, and it delivers. I have used it on the golf course (a stupid sport deer hunters play occasionally in the off season) in the woods and on deer. Never had any trouble with. Really easy to operate. I would have liked if the tether that comes with it was longer, I would wear it around 1 shoulder and neck, makes it easier to swing out of the way when shooting a bow. Great product April 6, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Top of the line Leupold makes top of the line rangefinders. Just about the only improvement I could ask for is if they merged one of their top of the line scopes with their rangefinding system (curiously, no company has done this). It's fast, its accurate. It has some advanced features a hunter may or may not find important. For example, it can compensate for a shot taken high off the ground and give that compensation using several different methods a hunter might prefer. If you hunt with a rifle, this is unlikely an issue. If you hunt with a bow, however. This model is expensive but worth it. It might be more than some people want or need. Most of the time you just want to aim it at something, push the button and get an accurate reading. Straightforward. It does this quickly and accurately. A cheaper model without the features would probably suffice but this model is faster and more accurate. That alone may or may not be worth the extra hundred dollars or so you will pay for this model. Unless you need a rangefinder with nightvision or you make your living as a professional sniper, this is about as top of the line as you can reasonably expect. April 8, 2013
