Looks like it would make a difference
I liked the slide pants, but my son said the padding didn't make a difference when he slides. Probably a little over priced, in my opinion.

My son loves these sliding shorts. He says they're cool and comfortable and they provide him the extra slide protection for being aggressive on the bases.

They fit great but make sure whatever cup you're using with it will fit as the opening in the shorts is a little small.

just what my son needed!
These meet my son's needs for baseball: comfortable and breathable. He hasn't done much sliding in them, so I can't say whether they provide good protection or not. Also I'm not sure about durability because he just got them 2 weeks ago.

Nike Baseball Sliding Shorts
Bought this product again as last pair held up well for 2 full years of Spring and Fall travel baseball. They are light and my son finds them comfortable, including the cup compartment. The new pair appears just as good in fit and quality. If buying the white pair, a drawback to consider however is that the material covering the sliding area is now gray versus the previous all white slider. The gray unfortunately shows through my son's white team pants and he doesn't want to wear them - a $30 wasted purchase. Recommendation is mixed. Yes on comfort and durability but you may want to think twice if the uniform pants are white and not thick enough to conceal some color. A contact to Nike to note issue resulted in simply a form letter thanking me for feedback.

Very comfortable and affordable!!!
My son loves these padded sliding pant. He says they are very comfortable and also uses them under his speed skating clothes as extra padding. They were also very affordable and seem to be well made from what I can tell.
