Rated 5 out of 5 by LOVE THESE RODS I purchased one rod about 4 months ago and it handles great!! I just purchased a second. They are stiff with a very sensitive tip. Great rod for catching red Fish . I have a Penn 850SS spin-fisher with 40 pound mono and it works great. Also have reeled in some 4 foot black Tip sharks with out any issue. September 10, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Blair Wiggens Big game rods This rod is a beast! I have hoisted up 45lb to 70lb amberjacks as well as 37lb black fin tuna! It's a great rod and I am going to buy another one soon! August 19, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Nice and strong rod Bought the 7'6" 30-60 lb rod for California / Mexico yellow-tail and tuna and I paired this up with a Shimano sustain. Caught several 15 - 20 lbs yellow-tails with no issue. Can't wait to try this rod on yellow fin and black fin tuna. My suggestions for the company: 1. make the lower hand grip a little bigger and 2. have more selections for this model such an 8 footer. Overall, awesome offshore rod. January 30, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Solid Rod I purchased the 7'0 model of this rod which stamps a 40-80Ib line rating. I paired it with a Penn Conflict 5000 model spinning real. I loaded the combo with 50Ib Power Pro braid, and followed it with 30Ib Seagar Blue fluorocarbon leader. I currently use the rod for snapper and grouper, but plan to test this setup with bigger fish later. To date I have had no issues with this rod. The weight is a great substitute coming from all the 6'6 and older beefy rods. The sensitivity is right up there with several of the bass rods that are currently on the market. More specifically, you can feel everything with this beast. I had a little concern with the action/flex/thickness when I first purchased the rod. However, all those concerns have been put to bed. I'm able to pull up those snapper and grouper before they can wrap me around structure below. Get yourself a nice real and decent retrieve speed - you will be fine. Couple things to note: 1. I have heard of the W&M tips breaking on "these rods", but I have not experienced this yet, as well as all the reviews I read were not people who actually experienced the rod break themselves, just word of mouth. Also, it has occurred to me that there might be a generalization occurring with this rod and the smaller inshore rod models by W&M. Then again, maybe I was lucky and picked up a solid blank with no issues. If you aren't sure, spend the extra $30 and get the in store warranty or be sure to register the vendor warranty. This should eliminate uncertainties. 2. This rod can be as an inshore rod. Get yourself a smaller reel and those reds/snook should present you NO issue what so ever. I would ask one thing from anyone posting replies regarding this rod. Unless you have experienced a break with this rod yourself, please don't post negative feedback or lower scores about it. Here say is a killer, and so far does not seem warranted with this rod. Hope this feedback helps. If any of what I communicated above changes, I will be sure to follow up. Now get out there and do some fishing September 12, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Undecided I bought this rod for the aluminum reel seat, and bc it looked cool. The following day an associate in the store tried to steered me away from it saying the rot tips are known for breaking. I have place a Van Staal 250 on it so we will see. Going to give it a chance and put it to the test... July 5, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Team Ram-ROD! This is an excellent product. I absolutely love it. It is lightweight but still can handle a good amount of weight to bring in a monster fish. Before I purchased this, Captain Blair Wiggins attended the DSG by my house. I went and he demonstrated to another customer the amount of weight that this rod can handle. He had the customer grab the end where the reel attaches and then Blair proceeded to grab the other end of the rod and put a massive amount of weight on it. The rod bent but did not break. Excellent product. I will buy it again for sure. April 13, 2015
