SkyCaddie SGXw Wi-Fi Golf GPS 3.6 5 8 8
Great Product This product provided great info on the place of location on golf ball on golf course in order to chose the right club to get the ball to the green. November 13, 2012
This caddie is fantastic! I golf once a week and on different courses. That is where this Caddie really shines. It gives the hole layout and distances to front, middle, and back of the greens. It advances to the next hole automaticly. This is just a great Caddie and the WiFi hookup works fantastic! September 18, 2012
Where am I? Just got my SGX today. I have 2 comments. Nowhere in the original ads did it say this required an annual fee. But that wasn't the deal breaker. I took it outside to look for local golf courses. After about 10 minutes it decided it had found satellites. Cool. Except it thought I was in Bangalore, India. I live in western PA, where I was attempting to use the device. I'm returning it. August 7, 2012
Great product Buy it somewhere else besides Dick's. Never in stock and just a hassel to get the product. July 8, 2012
Better apps out there The product is cumbersome to set up and syn with your computer. It doesnt easily find satellites and courses unless they are preloaded A friend of mine gave this to me as a gift.He really liked it I think there are better i phone apps out there that I have seen June 7, 2012
Good device, but instructions are weak The first caddie I received was defective; the wi-fi didn't work. But SkyGolf replaced it and the second caddie works fine. However, the company needs to provide more and better instructions so the device is easier to use. When scorinig mode is "on," it sometimes doesn't advance to the next hole after you enter your score. When that happens, you have to go back to the main menu and restart, which clears the score card so you have to re-enter your scores up to the hole you just finished. It's not clear how to advance from one hole to the next without going back to the main menu. Otherwise, the display, information, and backlighting are all good. It just takes a bit of fiddling to get used to. February 20, 2012
Best Golf GPS Ever.. I recently received my SGXw and the out of box experience was much more than advertised. As an owner of the previous SkyCaddie SGX, I have to say the W is a major upgrade in many important ways. First if you are at all savvy with mobile devices, you will instantly be impressed with the speed and functions of the W. The new optical trackpad is awesome - I would never want a touch screen on the golf course. It makes no sense to smudge or have a chance to scratch the screen on a GPS when the display is so important in outdoor applications. With the trackpad it works just like any trackpad on a computer, it was easy to understand and worked great. One of the key items I realize is that the SkyCaddie requires some knowledge of mobile devices, you can't be thick headed to take advantage of this advanced tool. But if you can operate a smart phone, you will love the SGXw. I found it very easy to get synced to my account and I was able to transfer all my saved courses and information in less than ten minutes. The documentation was also very good and there is a cool new Help menu on the SGXw that walks through the features quickly. For me this is a super cool golf device. First the processor is super fast, so it moves from map to map very quickly. Also, there are so many advanced ways to use the SGX in managing your game and planning your shots. The target tool is very cool - it allows you to quickly get a distance to any object. What I like is that I can hold up the screen on the course and use the map and target to help me with aim. This is because the map rotates and orientates based on where I am locate on the hole. This is really helpful on approach shots to odd shaped greens with multiple levels. Speaking of green levels and undulations, the SGXw has a cool feature called IntelliGreen - if you just rotate the device to the side you get an instant view of the green and the SGXw shows you the mounds and slopes, so you can really dial in your distances. The WiFi is a major improvement. First I don't need to worry about loading up a bunch of courses, because with WiFi I can download any course anywhere. Also - if I want to load courses on my online account at [@], then I can use WiFi to sync my courses so I get the latest maps when I need them. Also - I really like that I can instantly post my scores back to my ClubSG account on the website. Then I can have those scores sent to Facebook and Twitter posts. Very cool. The thing I know about SkyCaddie is that there is no other DMD on the market that has maps with the accuracy of the SGX maps. For me this is key because 3 yards is 9 feet and that is a big deal on approach shots, etc. I don't want to pay for something that is almost giving me a good number - I want accuracy. The SGXw gives me this and because I can keep these maps up to date with WiFi, I get all the latest course changes.Lastly, the SGXw addresses some GUI issues with previous SkyCaddie versions. The menus are now really more intuitive and scoring / statistic features are improved. But for me it really is just the speed of the new device that impresses me the most. I don't mind paying a membership if I'm going to get the most updated maps that I know are dead accurate and get the support and tools like ClubSG. Its worth the money to have the best. Annual Subscription Required In order to use this item, you need to pay an annual fee. They give a 30 day free trial. After that, you can either pay extra for actual course information or you can enter your own information for free. That seems unfair for an item that costs [$]. It costs $29.95/yr to use the device in one state and $49.95/yr to access basic info (front, center, and back of green)for more than one state. Also, this unit is NOT waterproof. Again, disappointing for an item that very likely will get rained on. December 17, 2011
