Perfect for what I needed
This watch worked out perfect for what I needed which was a heart rate monitor to wear while running the treadmill or lifting weights. It gives me calories, heart rate range, and amount of time.

Time monitor is. A hit
I just purchased a Timex monitor at Dicks and I love it. It makes it so easy to monitor and track my workouts A

I would buy again.
Great product, priced heart rate monitors up to $300.00, this does the same thing.

It's not for NASA, but it works for me!
I've owned a version of this watch for 4 yrs. and recently bought one for my mother. I wanted her to discuss her excercise routine with her doctor and use the it as a guide to 'get to know' how much she was exerting. She likes it, I love mine! Just change the battery regularly!

Very inaccurate and unreliable
I bought this as a less expensive replacement for my Polar while my Polar was out for service. The heart rate was slightly higher than normal readings but the calories burned was extremely elevated. My usual reading on the Polar is 300-350 calories burned per workout. The Times calculated 975-1050 calories burned for the same work out. Also, this monitor took several tries to even find a heart rate. You have to start turning it on 20 minutes before your workout to get it to pick up your heart rate in time for the workout. Sometimes without warning the heart rate would stop reading correctly. It was reading 65 when it should have been at 140. I was careful about placement of the strap but it doesn't seem to like the contours of a woman's body. I may try to return it because if it isn't accurate then it is worthless to me.

Pretty good HRM for the $$
I use the Timex Personal Trainer HRM when I workout to track calories burned and time in my target heart rate zone. *The instruction book is a bit hard to understand but I figured it out. It's pretty easy to use. The only DOWNSIDE is that it only stores your last workout info - other more expensive models will store up to your last 5 workouts. AND this HRM does not let you upload to computer... other more expensive ones do. NOW I realize how useful that would be. I created a spreadsheet/calendar to keep track of my workouts so I'm tracking it myself. *Next time, I will spend more $$ and get the one that can upload to computer... The HRM that goes around your chest isn't that hard to wear. I have gotten used to it and forget I have it on... Overall - I really love my HRM. It motivates me to work out more and see how I did!

a little quirky, but useful
I didn't have a difficult time setting up the monitor and it is helpful in keeping your heartrate, time in zones, etc. FYI to other reviewers, if you want to enter your weight, turn the monitor on before pressing the set button. Also, I do find that the heart rate starts showing faster if I dampen the back of the sensor. I wear the belt under my chest. I do think that the calorie counter is high (hopefully not too high!) I previously owned a Polar, but I think that this is much simpler and I like the fact that I can replace batteries in the watch and belt.

Work well but...
I use my monitor often but my calorie burn is always about 30% higher than what the machines read. Exp: 60 minutes of Zumba = 1018 calories burned and the instructor with the same monitor was at 690. Is there a way to enter your current weight to get more of an accurate reading?

Could not detect my heart beat.
This monitor is not for everyone. I received this as a Christmas gift. I read the manuals and found the directions were general. The model in the directions is a male. I am a female with an above average chest. I could not tell by the directions in the manual where exactly the chest monitor should be placed. I tried placing the monitor above the breasts (as the salesperson said) and below the breasts (as the manual seems to suggest). Neither worked for me. My husband was able to detect his heart rate. We are about equal in body fat, so I'm thinking it is an anatomy difference.
