Rated 3.2 out of 5 by 19 reviewers.
Rated 3 out of 5 by synergy reel This reel is a decent spincast for a cheap price. I used it for pond and stream fishing, paired up with a light action ugly stick, but I'm upgrading to a spinning reel. Though the drag on the reel is very weak, it handles panfish and small bass well. But, it can wear out and strip your line. This is a good beginner's reel and it served me well. July 23, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Virtually no drag ability! I bought two of these, and a couple of nice Field and Stream rods. We were going trout fishing in Arkansas. Turns out that they have almost no drag tension even cranked up as high as it will go! Small, small, small trout almost can't even be readily reeled in. You end up just cranking, cranking and cranking, and the fish just slowly, slowly, slowly make it to the boat, all the while the reel is just singing it's "Drag Tune". Something is seriously wrong with the design. Now I have a couple of fine rods. Reels are horrible to say the least. There should have been a "Horrible" rating star for me to choose from above. Rated 4 out of 5 by So far so good have had almost a month now and have used at least 4 days a week great for casting under an around trees June 29, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Drag is Terrible! The max drag setting on this reel is so bad it's like it isn't even on! To make sure that I wasn't mistaken I caught fish on the max in both directions of the - and settings! Very bad product!!! July 22, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good product good price, does what it is supposed to do. this should last the season May 7, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Value This is a great reel to teach your grand children how to cast. The price was affordable, and it performed excellent w/out snags even though the first few cast were timed wrong, as my grandson eventually got the hang of it. A GREAT starting reel for the money! Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice reel with great features I purchased this reel for my 9 year old grand-daughter, The "trigger" is a perfect was to learn to use a spinning reel. It casts great, with very nice distance and is super easy to control. August 23, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Casting made simple Being a experienced fisherman, I enjoyed the simple pleasure of a undercast spincast reel by Shakespeare, which made casting simple. I was able to side cast with this reel to place my cast on a desire long distant splash with ease. My young son agrees. Casting made simple by Shakespeare. May 19, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Seems to be good Cast nice and smooth. Trigger adds good control. April 24, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by So easy to use a 6yr old was casting far This is part of a rig which I like for my grandkids when combined with a Sha;espeare Ugly stick. This reel is the next size up from the smaller rod/reel combo normally found in stores. Slightly heavier line and size means they won't out grow it quickly. I prefer the better baalance and the longer handle that the Undercast reel allows you to use for kids....makes it easier to cast and reel, plus they adapt to spinning rods more easily. Be sure to use swivel snaps because this type of reel does cause line twist if you tie on directly to something like a jighead. April 23, 2012
