Rated 4.3 out of 5áby 67 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5áby Excellent value, superb playability, a little tricky to fold up, minor fit and finish issues Getting it home: Our store carried this table in stock. You'll need a pickup or an SUV with a large rack and tie-downs. I believe you can also pay to have the table delivered and assembled (but don't quote me on that). The carton is VERY heavy. This table is a full inch thick, and that particle board is very dense. It took three Dick's employees to load it on the top of my Sequoia. Once at home, I found the best way to unload it was to open the carton on the top of the SUV and pull out the table halves one-by-one with the help of two family members. Note that the table halves represent most of the weight, but be careful, because there are heavy, metal parts between the halves. Don't let this stuff fall on your head. They're well-secured with staples, but it's lighter to unload if you remove these parts first. Assembly: Putting the table together is very straightforward, but you will need help, which I'd expect of something that is this heavy. The initial steps can be done alone, but the crucial step of lifting the table halves and connecting them to the tubular supports requires at least two strong people. One reviewer pointed out that you need three people to assemble the table, and I would tend to agree, if only for safety and comfort's sake. (I imagine a couple of college kids could pull it off.) Folding and Unfolding: This is where I have some quibbles and is why this table misses out on a star in the rating. I think that a table at this price should have one continuous unfolding action, where you grasp the top of the folded table edge and pull, and the legs extend automatically, like an older Stiga table I had years ago. This one does not work that way. I followed the instructions carefully, but cannot figure out a way to unfold this table without sticking a foot underneath for leverage while tugging on the outer table legs to get them to extend. After some harrowing attempts where my beautiful new table leaves were knocking against each other and risked leaving scratches, I figured out how to unfold the table without damaging the center edges and near-center surfaces. I can't imagine my 12-year-old doing this without grinding the heck out of something. Playability: Once I had this table unfolded and leveled on its excellent feet with plenty of travel, all of my concerns disappeared in wonderful and rapturous reminiscence of childhood table tennis. And then I realized just how much better this table was than the one I played on in the 70s and 80s. The 1" surface is so thick that there is absolutely no ring from the table, just a nice, crisp, "pock!" and the ball responds crisply and cleanly, almost like it's bouncing off a hardwood floor. I am also confident that this table will never sag or warp because U-support underneath nicely spans the table width to keep it true. I'm no expert. I just know that this is not like any table I've had before in terms of how the ball works on it. Fit and Finish: Nifty plastic bumpers prevent the scarring (OK, not really) that I earned as a kid after plowing into the corners of the family table. Unfortunately, as another reviewer pointed out, the bumpers are poorly aligned, and could even interfere with play because a couple of mine extended above the table surface. Since the bumpers came pre-assembled and can't really be adjusted, I very carefully used a heat gun on the lowest setting to soften the plastic and shaped with a gloved hand so that it so that it did not extend beyond the table surface. To prevent paint damage, I slipped cardboard between the table edge and the bumper while heating. I imagine most of these bumpers arrive just fine from the factory and are not a problem. Summary: I bought this table and I'm happy. I bet you will be, too. There are limited options for tables with this thickness of playing surface and quality of table leg. If you're willing to wait a while, maybe Escalade Sports, who makes this table, will introduce some improvements. I still think you'll like it, though. This is a fine quality table with wonderful playability. July 28, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5áby Challenging but fun! I researched several tables and read every single review that I could find on the ST4100. I based my decision on this table the same way I base most of my decisions in general...on value. This is a reasonbly priced, 1" table that has higher end features of quality and durability. Though I have read some of the 'horror story' reviews about assembly, parts missing, packaging, damaged items, I did not encounter any of these problems on my own. I don't doubt that other people had these problems but I suspect that can happen with any product you buy and shouldn't necessarily reflect poorly on any single product. The real difference should be based on how the problem is corrected by the manufacturer. If you decide to buy this table, just be aware of the following: 1) package is heavy (250-lbs.) and will not fit in a car or SUV, you will need a flat bed trailer or pick-up truck. Ask for a new, unopened package; 2) it takes 2 adults approximately 2 hours to assemble; 3) there is a flaw with pre-assembled brackets that need to be reversed (left & right side need to be reversed but doesn't require drilling any new holes (it's very easy to correct and takes less than 5min.). I only knew about this issue because I read it in a review and it's true); 4) don't be surprised once you complete assembly if the table is not perfectly level or if the two halves are not even height. Just follow the simple insructions on leveling and evening the table halves and you will be just fine. We've had the table for approximately one month and it has brought lots of joy and healthy competition among our family and friends. January 14, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5áby a SNAP to assemble!!! Love this table! However it is HEAVY!!! The guys at Dick's Sporting Goods WARNED me of this as well. You HAVE to have at least one more adult help you put the tops on the struts (frame). The design is beautiful, and it is VERY easy to put together. READ ALL THE DIRECTIONS... don't overlook the NOTE/NOTES. Take your time and read through the directions before you even pick up one part, nut, or bolt. Then read them again, while putting it together. I never swore once. The bounce is great, love the blue tops, the apron, the net, the casters for leveling on the legs. Worth every penny! The old adage is TRUE. You get what YOU PAY FOR. Don't buy a cheap table. The STiga ST4100 is a fantastic ping pong table for the money. I will have this table for a very long time. January 21, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5áby Great Ping-Pong Table Great table! Well made. Quality construction. Straight-forward assembly. Table folding is a snap. My family and I have had a great time with it. The ball holder rails are tremendously convenient. - The people at Dicks were incredibly helpful! - We contacted the manufacturer for some touch up paint because of a few dings we caused while installing the table. They overnighted us paint pens free of charge. VERY NICE! - My only cautions are the following: 1) Have it delivered or make sure you have a pick up truck with a full size bed. It won't fit in a mini-van or SUV. 2) It is extremely heavy. Even if you break open the box and unload it in sections, the two table top parts are each about 90 lbs. Normally, this wouldn't be too bad for a two-person team. What makes it really tough is the metal beams running along 3 side of each table section. They make it very difficult to find a good hand hold. It is both heavy and awkward to grab onto. 3) Check the box at the store. Our first table had been damaged while still in the box and we got all the way home before realizing there was a problem. Thankfully, the folks at Dicks were really helpful and had a replacement waiting for us when we came back. June 13, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5áby Pleases our teenage boys We were looking for a sturdy table for our boys and their friends. None are pros but this table stands up to rugged play. It looks nice and is sturdy. I can't comment on assembly, as Dicks Sporting goods delivered (we live 60 miles from the nearest Dick's store) and assembled for 157.00. Did arrive with a very small ding in the table paint and a cracked plastic protective piece on one of the corners. The delivery guy pointed this out and we were shipped a new corner piece (easily installed with two screws) and a paint sample to fix the ding. Both were what I would consider very minor for shipping such a large item.Well worth the price. We are happy with the whole transaction and the table itself. March 6, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5áby Large, HEAVY, and awesome This is a great table. It may not be "competition" quality, but those are fully assembled and I couldn't get one down into my basement. Build quality is solid, transitions from playback to normal are smooth, and you get a good bounce on the ball. That being said, get this delivered, or rent a LARGE truck. You will also need one other strong person to help you with moving the large table top pieces and lowering them into the mounts. Not only are the table sections heavy, but you can't grab the metal skirts or they will bend. This causes the whole thing to be awkward to hold. Once set up, you will love it. August 4, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5áby horror stories about assembly not true After a lot of online research and reading reviews from many websites I purchased the 4100 as a xmas gift for the kids 4 of them 16-11 and ofcourse mom and dad will use it too. It has a 1" top and is heavy-duty and seems to be well built, only time will tell. I like the blue top and it folds and moves easily, (1 person) The whole unloading from my pick up to the garage and moving down to finished basement and complete assembly took 2 hours with 2 people, there is no need for 3. We opened the box in garage and moved all pieces seperately, much easier than trying to move whole box downstairs. All parts were there and instructions were perfect, just read and look at all instructions!!! All in all very nice table. hope this helped. PS. make sure galvanized brackets on under side of table halves are in correct position before attaching or table wont work. I caught it before we finished assembly. December 19, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5áby Great table Look, don't listen to these morons bashing the table for reasons that have nothing to do with the table and everything to do with their own abilities. The table is fantastic. Yeah, in shipping to the store or to your home maybe the table got damaged or a corner bracket got busted due to the sheer weight of the table. Contact the maker and get it a new one shipped. Pretty easy, idiots. The table is phenomenal if you really want a good table and are serious about ping-pong. If you're not, get a cheaper one. I wanted something sturdy that would last for 10 years and this is it. It is very easy to assemble if you have some common sense but due to the weight, when you get to the part where you lift the table onto the base you will definitely need at least one more strong male and it helps if you have a third person guiding the posts together. This table is awesome, these reviewers giving bad marks are just common-sense lacking. December 29, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5áby Great Buy for the money I saw that the local Dicks (Sharonville, Ohio-suburb of Cincinnati) was selling the display model for 40% off the 399 discount price. So I got it for 240 dollars. There were a couple dings and dents on the side of the table under the net but for a 1" table for 240 so what. Now I own a Butterfly centerfold, A butterfly Europa, and the cheaper Stiga (also from Dicks) but I wanted a one inch blue table to train my son on. (he's about 1200 level 13 year old) The net set is worthless-I put a 45 dollar Yasaka springer on it and the bounce on this table is almost as good as the 1700 dollar Butterfly. I do note that I get more glare off this blue surface than I get off my butterfly tables or the DONICs we use at the cincinnati Table Tennis club but then again those are 1200 dollar tables. This table was assembled when we bought it and it was no trouble for my wife and I to roll it into a horse trailer. that is one reason I bought it-the last STIGA (3100) was a complete pain to assemble its about as good a table you can find for the money. I have played on just about everything (been a USATT life member for almost 40 years-have been over 2050 in the past) January 2, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5áby Solid Table This is an excellent product. The table thickness gives a solid feel. The end storage racks speed up play. The levelers keep the table flat on uneven floors. The large rollers make it easy to move. Some areas where Stiga can improve the table: 1- the net support system is weak and we have to stuff paper or rags between the support and table to keep the net centered 2- one of the plastic end protectors is slightly raised and we need to screw it down September 16, 2013
