Stiga Master Series ST4100 Indoor Table Tennis Table 4.2 5 44 44
Doesn't align correctly 1 inch gap between the two sides of the table..... December 15, 2014
good table I agree with most of what was stated by the Marblehead,Mass. reviewer. One exception is the time required to assemble it. Perhaps he has exceptional skills and numerous helpers, but I didn't come anywhere near 20 minutes. Also, I suspect the gap is necessary in the center of the table in order to close it. Just a couple of minor suggestions in addition to having several young, strong helpers - I didn't, just 2 of us at 65+. A couple of Manhattans after assembly were helpful. I recommend reading the instructions numerous times and arranging the hardware for the various assembly steps before starting the process. Upon completion, I suggest pulling all the staples from under the table to prevent injuries, especially to children. Very good service at the store. December 13, 2014
Assembly was simple on ST4100 - much more to do on ST3100 I agree with all the other reviews - heavy, solid, etc. and will only add to those words. Assembly of this table is very simple. There are only a handful of bolts and nuts. Total time about 20 minutes. It requires at least 3 people to slide each half into the slots. This is very difficult and the two holding the halves must be strong. A key distinction between this table and the ST3100 is that much of this table is pre-assembled. Specifically, I did NOT have to install anything that was into the table itself, e.g. the metal guards around all the edges, the ball holder, or any frame piece that connects directly into the wood. I only had to install bolts to connect the frame. This is a huge point and alone justifies getting this table over the ST3100. Besides this, I am also dealing with a gap of about 1 inch between the halves at the net line. This isn't a big deal but I still would like to close it. Opening and closing the table is simple, but my 9 year old daughter cannot do it due to height and weight issues. Yes, there are better tables out there but none even close based on price. Various promos exist to bring the amount to less than four bills. December 4, 2014
Love this table! Recently bought 3 of these for my P.E. classes. The kids LOVE them and so do I. Solid tables that are GREAT to play on. Love the net system and the ball storage on the ends of each table. You absolutely have to have 3 strong humans to move the boxes. They are seriously heavy! You will need 3 people to put the tops on the bases as well. The rest of the construction is relatively straightforward. They are GREAT tables as far as playability. Would highly recommend them for any level player. Great customer service from Dick's as well. December 4, 2014
Stiga Master Series ST4100 Table Tennis Table Rocks We could not be happier with this table. It is made of high quality material and it is extremely stable. It works great for single play as well. It is very heavy, so have some strong people around when you bring it home. October 28, 2014
Large, HEAVY, and awesome This is a great table. It may not be "competition" quality, but those are fully assembled and I couldn't get one down into my basement. Build quality is solid, transitions from playback to normal are smooth, and you get a good bounce on the ball. That being said, get this delivered, or rent a LARGE truck. You will also need one other strong person to help you with moving the large table top pieces and lowering them into the mounts. Not only are the table sections heavy, but you can't grab the metal skirts or they will bend. This causes the whole thing to be awkward to hold. Once set up, you will love it. August 4, 2014
Excellent value, superb playability, a little tricky to fold up, minor fit and finish issues Getting it home: Our store carried this table in stock. You'll need a pickup or an SUV with a large rack and tie-downs. I believe you can also pay to have the table delivered and assembled (but don't quote me on that). The carton is VERY heavy. This table is a full inch thick, and that particle board is very dense. It took three Dick's employees to load it on the top of my Sequoia. Once at home, I found the best way to unload it was to open the carton on the top of the SUV and pull out the table halves one-by-one with the help of two family members. Note that the table halves represent most of the weight, but be careful, because there are heavy, metal parts between the halves. Don't let this stuff fall on your head. They're well-secured with staples, but it's lighter to unload if you remove these parts first. Assembly: Putting the table together is very straightforward, but you will need help, which I'd expect of something that is this heavy. The initial steps can be done alone, but the crucial step of lifting the table halves and connecting them to the tubular supports requires at least two strong people. One reviewer pointed out that you need three people to assemble the table, and I would tend to agree, if only for safety and comfort's sake. (I imagine a couple of college kids could pull it off.) Folding and Unfolding: This is where I have some quibbles and is why this table misses out on a star in the rating. I think that a table at this price should have one continuous unfolding action, where you grasp the top of the folded table edge and pull, and the legs extend automatically, like an older Stiga table I had years ago. This one does not work that way. I followed the instructions carefully, but cannot figure out a way to unfold this table without sticking a foot underneath for leverage while tugging on the outer table legs to get them to extend. After some harrowing attempts where my beautiful new table leaves were knocking against each other and risked leaving scratches, I figured out how to unfold the table without damaging the center edges and near-center surfaces. I can't imagine my 12-year-old doing this without grinding the heck out of something. Playability: Once I had this table unfolded and leveled on its excellent feet with plenty of travel, all of my concerns disappeared in wonderful and rapturous reminiscence of childhood table tennis. And then I realized just how much better this table was than the one I played on in the 70s and 80s. The 1" surface is so thick that there is absolutely no ring from the table, just a nice, crisp, "pock!" and the ball responds crisply and cleanly, almost like it's bouncing off a hardwood floor. I am also confident that this table will never sag or warp because U-support underneath nicely spans the table width to keep it true. I'm no expert. I just know that this is not like any table I've had before in terms of how the ball works on it. Fit and Finish: Nifty plastic bumpers prevent the scarring (OK, not really) that I earned as a kid after plowing into the corners of the family table. Unfortunately, as another reviewer pointed out, the bumpers are poorly aligned, and could even interfere with play because a couple of mine extended above the table surface. Since the bumpers came pre-assembled and can't really be adjusted, I very carefully used a heat gun on the lowest setting to soften the plastic and shaped with a gloved hand so that it so that it did not extend beyond the table surface. To prevent paint damage, I slipped cardboard between the table edge and the bumper while heating. I imagine most of these bumpers arrive just fine from the factory and are not a problem. Summary: I bought this table and I'm happy. I bet you will be, too. There are limited options for tables with this thickness of playing surface and quality of table leg. If you're willing to wait a while, maybe Escalade Sports, who makes this table, will introduce some improvements. I still think you'll like it, though. This is a fine quality table with wonderful playability. July 28, 2014
Product is good. but came with defect. For assembly need THREE person! The product itself is OK, the price is good, if you can somehow get it from store without delivery to your home. Very HEAVY! You need three person to assemble it, not kids. The assemble was easy by instruction, not like LEGO steps but not complicated as an aerospace draw. Also delivery company person was RUDE. I ask them to let me open the box to see this is the right Series I ordered (it was some confusion in the beginning and Sporting Goods customer service recommended to check) but delivery guy did not want to wait even ONE minute! And actually I can say he has absolutely not acceptable speaking tone to me. And then, bad thing happens again. Table has a defect and cannot convert to right place. Need to return it. Disassemble + again assemble. If you may save money on delivery, i'm really recommending you to call "assembly" guy. Save your time. July 24, 2014
Quality product This box is frggen heavy! I put the table together with my 17 year old daughter. Followed each step and the table came out perfect. We have been playing for three weeks and love it... The net could be better, but it's ok as long as you tighten each time you open the table back . This table folds and stores perfect...already got my money's worth when everyone played doubles and round robin. May 20, 2014
Nice Table This table was assembled by a crew that I hired through Dicks. They did a satisfactory job and the table is really nice! March 5, 2014
