Rated 5 out of 5áby well... If a bike tech builds it then its covered. If you put it togeather yourself then it isn't because not everyone knows how to do so to spec. There is info in the box that states this. second. Where were you riding this bike? off road? country road? How heavy are you? There are reasons the bike would fall apart other than it being a "bad build".Ive have many dif bikes including Diamondback and none have ever fallen appart on me because i use them on what they were designed for. Rated 1 out of 5áby Good for about 600 miles First off, the bike was great. I ride 18 miles each way to work and this bike did the job. It shifts well (although every once in a while it shifts a little hard but still better then a derailleur). It has frame mounts for a water bottle cage or bike pump in two places (although I don't think you can do two water bottles as the mounts are too close together). Info I could not find elsewhere: It has presta valves. I know that's expected on a tire this thin (32) but I couldn't find it anywhere for certain. It does have mounts for a rear rack. This would have been good info to know since I bought my rack without knowing, and so i bought one that clamps onto the seat post. Ah well. Caveat 1: The biggest downside to me is the threadless stem. This means you can't adjust the handlebar height easily. You need to buy a riser or riser handlebars. This isn't awful, just something worth noting. Caveat 2: It only has eight gears, but that's more than enough for me since I'm in the flat valley of Phoenix, AZ. I've never used 1st or 2nd gear. If I were in a hilly area I might add a Patterson Metropolis Transmission like someone else mentioned on here, but maybe the 1st and 2nd that this already has is enough. I just don't know because I have no hills to try it on :) Make sure you check diamondback's website for fitting. Bikes are NOT one size fits all. If you're looking for a simple bike that will get you from point a to point b reliably, here it is. BTW, compare the 2012 stats to the 2013 on Diamondbacks website and you'll find this is the EXACT same bike. The 2013 just got a new paint job. I kind of prefer all black anyway, so saved a couple hundred by getting "last" year's model. Update: I thought my shifter was bad, but turns out it just needed to be adjusted. And it was REALLY easy to adjust. I attached a video that shows a yellow line down on the internal hub. You have to line up two yellow lines while in 4th gear for your bike to shift properly. You line them up by spinning the little black adjuster screw thingy that is right under your shifter. I showed that part at the end of my video. Shifts like a dream again. I had to take away a star though because of Diomandback's customer service. The bike is just as wonderful as always, but when I called to try and see what to do about the shifter (thinking it was broken) they proceeded to tell me I had no warranty because I didn't buy it from an authorized seller. I did get transferred to the people who usually handle online warranty claims. I left them a message and NEVER heard back. Turns out it was a simple fix, but I did discover that if something does breaks I'm out of luck, and even if I did have a warranty, they don't return phone calls.... Update II: So the bike literally started falling apart.... Spokes are breaking on this like they are made of plastic. I haven't even put 1000 miles on this. A bike should last at least 1000 miles if you pay this much.... I'm sorely disappointed with this bike. I bought Diamondback because I'd heard great things about them. Now I find that the build is bad, and they don't stick behind their warranties, but instead hide behind the, "You don't have a warranty because you didn't buy it from an authorized re-seller." I have found nowhere in the paperwork from their own manual that says you have to buy from an authorized re-seller. Ah well, you live you learn, you don't buy Diamondback again.... March 24, 2013
