Rated 4 out of 5 by adidas Triple Stripe T-Ball Facemask review Product & price are good. 1st, Dick's is the only place to sell a batting helmet and cage small enough for my boy. I did read reviews before my purchase, I knew ahead of time the assembly may be a challenge. Other reviews are pretty accurate... some difficulty of assembly. The helmet does become tighter once cage is attached because the cage is rigid. Assembly requires some muscle, pushing & manipulating the helmet and small T-nuts simutaneously to line up the screw and T-nut (t-nut is inside the helmet). Buyers, you may need to help your kids take off the helmet (w/ cage attached). It's simple, just pull apart at the ears on the helmet to open it up a tiny bit, and it should come off easily. ATTENTION DICK'S, most leagues require a helmet w/ cage on kids for safety. **This teeball helmet / cage combination should be sold as assembled, and only offered as such.** Much less headaches for parents who want their kids to be safe. $20 for a helmet / $10 for a cage, $30 for a complete helmet, I'd buy it. ** I would have definitely bought it 'caged' last year if it was offered in the store. Only bought the helmet because no cage was offered.** Please pass this forward to Adidas. May 5, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Large for a T-ball facemask We bought this facemask since my son has an Adidas helmet and his league (coach-pitch 8 yr olds) now requires that all players wear a facemask. This was the only Adidas facemask that any of our local Dicks stores stocked. Putting it on the helmet was slightly challenging but manageable - probably a result of the helmet not being one of the three models listed on the facemask instructions (but the only option for us). What surprised us was how far this mask projects from the helmet. With it sticking-out so far and the additional weight on the helmet, my son's head now turns within the helmet (didn't before the face mask addition) and obstructs his view when hitting. Replaced entire helmet and mask with a dedicated helmet/mask combination to obtain a better/fit smaller mask. May 4, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Attaching this is terrible What should take a minute to do, took a half hour. On the sides, stick a screw driver in the holes to remove foam and padding more easily. April 25, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Mask took some work. This mask will make helmet a size smaller without adjustment to mask. I put the mask on the floor and put a foot on one side of mask and pulled on the other just slightly stretching the mask. End result it made the mask fit better without the loss of size and a little easier to install. Hope this helps others struggling with mask. April 23, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Mandatory Equipment This cage is probably more necessary than a glove and cheats for fast pitch softball. Good price and easy to install (once you know what you are doing). Unfortunately, the instructions could be better (or create a video explaining it). September 13, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Hard to believe how bad Adidas failed My 7 year old daughter started playing T-Ball this year. While Dick's had T-Ball helmets in stock, I was very disappointed that the local stores do not carry face masks for them, so I ordered this one online. Installing it was a total nightmare. To be clear I've coached Little League baseball for many years and know my way around equipment. This mask came with a tiny instruction sheet that was NO HELP. Though it's obvious that it clamps to the helmet (which I've done countless times with other helmets), nothing lined up and there were several ways things could go together. Making matters worse, the helmets had pre drilled holes for the mask with removable squares in the helmet lining to aid in installation. However; the removable inserts did not line up with the pre drilled holes so it took an hour of 're working' the helmet liner in order to make it work. Should have been a 5 minute install, but took well over an hour. You could say the helmet was the issue, but since this mask is specifically made to work with this helmet, the issue applies to both. Rated 4 out of 5 by Hard to attach If you have big fingers than this mask is going to be very difficult for you to attach to the helmet. I am female with what I assumed small fingers but it seemed difficult to place the nut within the small opening of the thick padding that is glued in the helmet to screw the mask onto the helmet. Once attached works very well. March 26, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by Worst product ever Directions are vague. What Adidas helmets actually go with it is not obvious. What Shoukd take 30 seconds takes forever. Took it back. Buying a whole new NON Adidas helmet with face mask already ateacher. #garbage March 15, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Didn't fit the Tball helmet It was too big for the "matching" pink Adidas tball helmet. Had to return. March 14, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Too heavy, barely lines up with holes i have no doubt this facemask will provide excellent protection. However, once placed on the helmet its weight makes the helmet VERY unbalanced and front heavy. Installing the mask is a challenge. The holes on the mask and helmet line up, but only after a lot of effort squeezing the helmet ear holes inward while trying to insert the screws. Its weight causes the helmet to droop over the player's eyes. At first I assumed that all masks and helmets were "front heavy," but after inspecting helmets other players had - including Easton, Under Armor and Schutt, I realized that Addidas simply made a heavy mask. When I returned it, knowing what I learned about the weight and the installation, every other helmet that fit my son's head had an easier installation process, was lighter, and balanced better once attached. The price isn't enough to make a difference either. The Schutt helmet/mask combo was $6 more than the Addidas combo. The other available brands either cost the same or ranged upward to about $15 more. So, this mask is sturdy and will provide excellent protection- which is its job, but it's heavy, not appreciably cheaper, hard to install and doesn't balance well with the helmet. You can do better and Dicks should have other options in stock. April 19, 2015
