Safety first! My son refused to get a baseball helmet that didn't have a face mask. You can buy goggles and mouth guards, but only a face mask will protect your nose. Last season he was wearing his Adidas helmet and mask when he tripped in the dugout, and the face mask saved his face when he hit the ground. So, when he outgrew that helmet, he demanded that his new helmet had a face mask. This is the only brand of face mask we found at the Dick's store at the Dayton Mall. Since the masks are made by a company to fit their helmets exclusively, you have to buy a helmet from that company's models, in this case the company is Adidas. The only problem I noticed is the mask fits on the outside of the helmet. This position locks and fixes the helmet's shape - which is a good thing, don't get me wrong. But, if you are buying an ADULT size helmet for your 12-year-old because he has a BIG head, and it is already very snug without the face mask, adding the face mask makes it a struggle for him to put on the helmet. Well Built But Heavy We bought the Adidas Triple Strike facemask to go on our brand new Adidas Trilogy Batting Helmet. First off the mask is well built with solid materials. The downside to the quality is the weight. Installation was a bit tricky because it wasn't a perfect fit on a helmet of the same brand. Once we got it installed, the weight of the facemask kept making the brim fall down over eyes when she ran. February 26, 2013

Overall good product My 11 y.o. already had a helmet without a face shield and needed it for the league he played in this fall. Face guard went on ok, had no issues getting the hardware on, but the nut swivels as you try to tighten the screw down securely.Would be nice if the nuts were like star washers where they dig into the surface for traction. You need a very small pair of needle nose pliers to grip onto the nut as you tighten down the screws. The directions were too small to read, but luckily I had another helmet I also bought with the face shield already installed, so I could use the new helmet to properly see how to install the face guard onto the present (older)helmet. If I wouldn't of had the new helmet to use as a guide, I would have spent lots of more time trying to figure out how to place the face shield onto the helmet. Overall, the face shield fits nicely and does the trick. Would purchase again if I needed one to install. September 8, 2012
