Rated 5 out of 5 by Coach & Proud Dad! NIKE BURST -- Best Beginners Stick on the Market!!
This is the best ?Beginners? Girls Stick on the market; bar none! At ONLY $39.99, it?s a great value. (And by the way, you shouldn?t spend more than $50 to $60 on a beginners stick anyway). I brought this stick for my daughter, and the stick performed wonderfully. By comparison, I have also purchased more than one STX beginners stick (which I also liked), but they did not compare to the Burst. I have also used (and had players who have used) Brine beginners sticks.
Now, I started playing lacrosse in 1979 (my first stick was an STX by the way), and I now coach middle school girls lacrosse. I say this to say, that I have seen my fair share of beginners sticks.
The stick comes off the rack ?broken in?, and throws and catches like an intermediate level stick. This is great for a girl with little or no experience breaking a stick in, while they try to master stick skills and ground balls.
As noted in other reviews, the only true negative is that the stick does get loose after a season or so. If you decide to keep the stick, it will have to be restrung in a season and a half to two seasons. But, remember folks this is a beginner?s stick for less than $40!!! If you want a longer lasting stick with a better quality staff, then buy an intermediate to advanced level stick for $129 to $189.
The bottom line is this stick is an EXCELLENT value, and it performs much better than one can expect for the price. In fact, now my niece is starting lacrosse, and I will probably get her a Burst also!

Rated 4 out of 5 by k.lee.535 Good first stick!
I have been playing lacrosse for 3 years and this was my first stick. It's perfect for beginners because it makes catching and ground ball pick-up MUCH less frustrating. The ball stop isn't as bouncy as a lot of other beginners' sticks, which is a plus! Also, it's pretty good for passing accurately.
The only cons would probably be that the pocket gets pretty loose sometimes, so you might have to re-tie it a lot, which can make it a little easier to drop the ball when shooting or throwing long passes. Don't pull back too far when shooting because the ball isn't always entirely secure in the pocket. Also, the shaft gets realllyyy cold in cold weather, but that isn't a huge deal.
I would definitely recommend this stick to beginners, but you will want a better quality stick if you have been playing for longer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mystery! Amazing stick!!!
I'm a beginner when it comes to lacrosse and this was my first stick.
First for the price, compared to all the other beginner lacrosse sticks, this one to me has the quality that will help beginners learn better. This stick is not a stick that will last probably more than 2 seasons considering it was only $40.
The shaft has a nice feel to it and doesn't get slippery when I'm training with my friends and compared to my friends shaft, I feel it's more lightweight.
The head gets ground balls with ease and holds the ball in well!
Now for more of the negatives I think I'll run into in the near future.
1. The strings become loose every now and then and make my stick illegal, but doing a little fancy ties will solve that
2. The top of the strings are starting to get fuzzy from all the ground balls and I haven't played in an actual game yet
But that's it! GET THIS STICK GUYS!!!!

If you want a long lasting lacrosse stick i wouldn't choose this one.I should have expected this because of the price. It works good but the quality isnt worth buying it, lesson learned.
